Malu or Crispa? What do you guys or gals think?

I am on a quest to collect a few H. malu. I got in-stock notice from LA over the weekend that they have Malu in stock so I ordered 2. This is what I got. What do you guys and gals think?
These anemones are about 5 inches in the pictures below. I am sure after they settle in they will be much bigger. I am almost certain that they are H. crispa instead of H. malu. This is really too bad because I really don't want Crispa, just Malu.

I got a matching anemone from LA as well. I will post a pic later, but I'm up in the air on if it is a crispa or Malu. It has a dense network of tentacles, but other than that, it seems crispa-like. I guess time will tell.

I'm wondering if your second anemone might be a malu. The variable tentacle length seems like a hint, especially with the shorter, blunt tentacles towards the center of the oral disk.

Here is my matching anemone (forgive the picture quality, and it has the same colors as yours, though it is hard to tell):

Here it was this morning when it decided to move (this is under room light, no tank lights on, it is about 7-8" across):

Here are the anemones after in my tank for 3 days. Both doing very well. one is clearly a huge Malu. He is about 8 inches or so. That is the anemone #2. Anemone #1 is also likely a Malu also but not clearly so at this time.

Anemone #2, Malu IMO

What made you change your mind? You were 90% sure they were crispy.

Also which malu did you order? Pink or colored and from which location?

Anemones changes as their stress level decreases. After recovery from shipping they look different. These two anemones are VERY large for H Malu. I have keep Malu for 20 years. I have feed them and got them to spawned but mine have never approach this size. The varies tentacle length with shorter near the mouth is typical for Malu but not Crispa.

Minh, thanks for the response. I am trying to learn about these beautiful creatures in hopes of aquiring one someday. In photo #1, post #7, the tentacles appear pretty rounded compared to the next photo and pericyte's photo.....and fuller too. Is this a distinction also?

I would also like to know from which category at the live aquaria you ordered your anemone. They have categories of tan, colored, and pink. Also various locations in the world from which they came. Could you tell me what you ordered so that I know what they send out.

It could be a Malu. Tentacles density is not high in Malu. It also have the rings on the tentacles. Whoever buy this anemone hopefully post update here

How about this $300 anemone that looks like Malu from pacific east aquaculture? Or is it Aurora?

I would guess Malu as well, although it's bleached and also isn't expanded well. With a healthy population of zoo it's probably going to look like a rusty type color like you see on the right rim area.

I also wouldn't buy that malu due to price and I would give it at best a 50/50 chance of surviving.

Just called PEA to get more info on the specimen. They said they have no idea what specific species it is, but it was collected in Indonesia and has been with them for about 6 weeks and eating well.

My guess is that it's some sort of H. aurora. If you look at the full-res photo on PEA's site, the tentacles are slightly ribbed.
