Mantis eggs

Doris my mantis was just out cruising around the front of my tank showing me her egg sack which was very cool!!

Now they wont be feritilized correct so she is freaking out because she is looking for a stud rite?
She just put them away and she is moving way to fast for pics

actually i believe mantids can actually store sperm for a pretty lengthy time... a few months if im not mistaken. so depending on how long you've had her, they might already be fertilized.

I have had her a few months and I am not sure how long the previous own had her.
I have no way to raise them if they do hatch tho so bummer

The eggs really are not in a sack. They are embedded in a matrix cement.

Stomatopod females can store sperm for several months provided they have not molted.

If the eggs are fertile, they will hatch in a couple of weeks, the larvae will stay with the female for 3 or 4 days, and then they will enter the plankton. If they were not fertilized, she will eat them in a few days.

No one has ever reared larval Odontodactylids, so don't worry about it.

Yea i am sure she has molted to bad I would have loved a bunch of baby shrimp running around
