Marine ich fallow period

You don't have to be an expert to understand the parasite's life cycle and develop a solid quarantine protocol based on that understanding. Crypto prevention is pretty straightforward, and prevention obviates the need to ever worry about fallow periods, stress or disease "management." For example, perform TTM on every new acquisition from the get go and you'll never see it in your display.

I didn't say the life cycle was hard to understand. Read my post. I said that there are variables that are not clear cut in all cases. Just to satisfy my curiosity, I'm currently trying TTM on my resident fish. I plan to keep them in quarantine for a full 72 days while the tank runs "fallow". . . I will keep you posted. I'm a biologist, so I assure you that protocols will be run as perfectly as possible. If crypto returns in the display on any of my resident fish, then I give up!!!:deadhorse1:

Will Prime handle any ammonia problems during the TTM? I don't plan on using any filtration. There will only be a heater, some pvc, and an airstone (changed every transfer) in the tank. I will transfer every 2-3 days for a total of at least 12 days, maybe 14 to be on the safe side. Thanks.

I recommend Prime on day two always. Not always necessary but no reason to take a chance. The most critical issue with the fallow tank is not adding anything wet without quarantine and of course, no fish.

I just lost one of my ocellaris and my yellow tang. Needless to say, I'm not happy. The remaining fish are still going through TTM.
