Marineland Marine series tanks

EnderG60 have you gotten a quote for the 300 with starphire on the 3 sides?

For lighting i was thinking either 3x250w 12k reeflux in Lumenbright mini wide or large

or

8-9 bulb retro t-5 60" overdriven bulbs to either 800w or 900w on 3 icecap 660 ballasts.

I'm going to use the same lights that I had on the 390, 3 lambenarc (diy) reflectors with 250 watt Aquaconnect 14K, and two 6' vho actinic.

Well tried to get a price quote for this tank out here except I couldn't because according to the Marineland rep the greedy bastage of a distributor for most of this entire region has decided they refuse to sell the tank.... because they want to sell their Oceanic tanks instead... *sigh*

Perfect dimensions, it's a shame they didn't make them Euro-braced.

I can't say I can complain about the bracing. It's right in the middle of my 200. I would say the vast majority of people running MH will have 2 lights on here, so the brace is not an issue. Those running T5's have more than enough spread that the brace will not have much of an impact.

Yeah if anything I kind of like the thin braced top with the cross brace, seems you can clean it a bit more easier rather than reaching around a 3 inch slab of glass around the perimeter.

Agreed. And width the depth of the tank, anything that makes reaching in easier is good (and I'm 6'4").

I agree bracing is not an issue. This is from someone who had an Oceanic with that 10 inch thick glass brace.

My only thing with not have eurobracing is it makes it easier to keep the water in the tank. I plan on having some waveaction and i hope i can without any problems, not to mention fish splashing.

The rep i have been dealing with keep stringing me along telling me he should have all the pricing tomorrow, that started Sunday.

Call John at FAOIS in Oldsmar.

Can anyone tell me the distance between the bottom of the overflow teeth and the bottom glass inside the tank? For plenum purposes
TIA

Does anyone have a picture of these tanks stocked? I see a lot of build treads, but haven't come across any completed setups...............seriously considering getting one of these tanks.

Here is a little information to answer some of the questions in this thread.

First, glass thickness. None of the Marine Series tanks use tempered glass.
150 gal has 12mm bottom and sides
200 gal has 16mm bottom and 12mm sides
250 and 300 have 19mm bottom and 12mm sides

The tanks can be custom ordered with any of the features mentioned so far in this thread, in fact many of the ones mentioned have already been done numerous times.

The cost of custom work varies only because of the markups added to the tank by the distributor and the dealer/LFS.

The price of these tanks does not go down at trade show times. The tanks were discounted slightly more at launch earlier this year.

They do not allow consumers to pick up tanks at the plant.

If you do not purchase a Marineland/Perfecto stand with the tank, your warranty goes from a limited lifetime warranty to a one year warranty!

Any other questions, let me know.

Ive gotten quotes from $1750 to $2400

that kind of sucks about the warrenty. does it make a difference if its a licensed capender building the stand?

Unfortunately, no. It is because of liability and insurance reasons. If it makes any difference, if you talk to any aquarium manufacturer, they'll tell you that 95% or more of defects will occur in the first year. Failure rate on these tanks is very very low, and the large majority of reported leaks, etc, are not due to manufacturing defects, but to poor installation or handling. If you should choose not to use a "company" stand, I'd recommend talking to your homeowners insurance people and get something in writing from them.

yeah im already planning to make sure i have a clause in my insurance(gata close on the house first!) Im sure they are fine, as thats the reason im getting one instead of a class cages or simply making it myself, Its more of a piece of mind kinda thing.

and yes the stands are nice, but not nice enough when I can make one way better for way cheaper.

Does anyone know the internal dimensions of the marineland stands? I know they are a bit short, but I was wondering if some of the more popular skimmers could fit under them.

SPStoner, do you know the terms and conditions of the limited lifetime warranty or the one year warranty..........................If the lifetime warranty isn't that great, I may just build my own stand.
