Very nice work :).

Thanks Alicia. I will be working on fine tuning the stand this week and preparing the inside for paint and the outside for stain.

that is an awesome stand/canopy. I like it very much. Maybe you should put in a center trim 1x3 between doors and up through canopy.?? Anyway, I hope you are happy with it and I didn't change it too much from your original vision.

rockwyld- Thanks again Lance. You saved my arse on this part of my build. Thanks for letting me use your garage and your expertise. I look forward to seeing water in your new tank.

I made my first trip to the woodworking store. :D That place is cool. I picked up some espresso colored water based stain. I then proceeded to HD and picked up some Kilz.

I took the doors off and gave the interior of the stand a good coat of primer. After filling the nail holes this AM, I was able to give the trim and doors a good sand with 150 grit sand paper. Tomorrow I will finish the sanding with 220 grit and decide if I like the stain or not.

Here are a couple shots of my progress

very nice mark! Did you plug your H&S in yet? I might look into getting one. My skimmer is giving me a headache. The ATI looks good too...

Jay- I plugged the eheim in to make sure it works, but it is still just chillin in the garage.

Just to reassure Mark I am following along...

What is the clearance to get into your tank once you mount your lights? Does the canopy open all the way up or just that front panel?

Thanks, I need all the moral support I can get. I will have 14 inches of internal clearance off of the eurobracing. On this design, it is just the front face that folds back. I am not sure if I will build another one in the future, but when it is shut, it looks really clean. It also leaves me with plenty of room for my lighting options.

Tbone strikes again! See my sig Mark. It's not too late to salvage your thread.:D

I picked up some of my schedule 80 plumbing today. I plan on using schedule 80 for my bulk heads, valves and unions.

I also spent some time custom mixing different stains to find the one that I would be most happy with. I have never worked with water based stains before. I have always used all-in-one's, but I wanted to make sure the stand would have a copy good coats of poly to protect it from my lackluster reefkeeping skills.

I also put the first layer of stain on the stand. Here is a picture of it before I leave you guys for the evening. I'm off to watch Kobe and the Lakers school my Kings.

Boo Lakers... Im a Magic fan =\

And to contribute to your thread a little, very nice color. thats the color I woulda chosen!

This game reminds me of a few years back. A few elbows, a few technicals, and Derek Fisher killing us from behind the arc. We'll see. The lakers are the real deal though.

Ok, back on topic :)
