The operation was a success. I wanted to move the hinge point back a little bit so if I left the canopy flipped open, it would have more than a 1 inch trim that it was resting on. I still need to sand down the new nail holes a second time and stain the new spots, but it feels a lot better now that its done.

I was playing around with the wood strip that I will be mounting my reflectors to. I only have one reflector right now (thanks Tim), but at least I could measure things out.

Lookin so good :)

Thanks Alicia. I am making the switch to SE. I think I will start out with Radiums. I like my DE helios so much that I might as well stay blue with a little more par.

Sorry, no pictures today. It was a day to play with my daughter in between touching up things getting ready to start the top coats tomorrow. This should be interesting. I remember when I refinished my hardwood floors, so it shouldn't be much different.

I went over "equipment still needed" list today. I think I narrowed it down to a pair of Lumenarc mini's, another bluewave ballast, wavy sea, VHO's, a few odds and ends of my plumbing orders (john guest fittings and such), Ato system, and a second vortech; I could use my nanostreams until I get the last.

I was also thinking about my electrical plans and putting starboard down even though I will be putting sand in the tank after a couple of weeks. I am sure I am missing some other items, but just to have an end to it means I am closer than I thought.

I did order 3 radiums today from reefgeek though :)

I liked this shot. The inside of the canopy is too nice.

Nope, it's too fly. ;)

Great build thread and job on the stand and canopy. The stain is a nice, deep, rich color. It's going to look sweet when it's poly'd.

Oh, beautiful tank too.

Paul

Thanks Paul for kind words and your're right; it's "too fly".

Note to self and others, wear gloves when applying top coats :spin3:

I just applied my second top coat and I am pretty happy how this is starting to turn out.

3rd Coat is completed

I finished the 3rd coat and I have about a half a can so I will let this dry tonight and see what I think tomorrow. I am leaning towards a 4th coat though.

wow Mark you're moving right along? you should be ready for water soon

Bart, Thats almost as funny as the Kings beating the Lakers tonight in LA. Wait; they did. :D I have alot of my equipment coming in over the next two weeks. I am thinking six weeks to water...give or take ;)

BTW, why do you put the spectrum pellets in your food recipe? They are very high in phospates. I was curious about that when I was making up a small batch of food yesterday.

six weeks that's too long you will need to make something happen soon...give or take :D

I'm trying to get the tank on the stand this week. The bulkheads should be here mid week. That will let me start my plumbing mock up. I need to get my lighting supplies so I can dial that in as well.

ok calm down, just giving your prosthetic arm a high 5 :D. why didn't make a complete list of equipment and parts needed to do the job at one time.
