Poletti's special seafood gumbo :p

Whats funny about that Jim, I actually had people ask me if they could buy it off of me. Unfortunately, they do not know I spend close to $100 on each batch. Add in my time and I do not think they want to pay me what it would cost :D

Mark,
Thanks. I have a few questions though. How long does a batch last? After you freeze it are there any issues with breaking it to feed? Why do you rinse it and then strain it? Thanks again and I apologize for asking so much.

I refreeze it in quart sized freezer bags about 1/4-1/2" thick so it is easier to break. I rinse it to get all of the "crud" out of it to help with limiting the phoshates. Once your rinse your food once, after that, you will always feel bad when don't.

How long a batch is up to you. I like fish and I like to feed my fish. Its lasts me anywhere from 6-8 weeks depending on how much I actually make.

Oh cool. I didnt think any local places carried it. I always see it at dr.fosters. I have never tried it but have been wanting too.

I don't think we are actually doing much different except I don't rinse and strain mine. I actually mix it all together then just use it. I will pick up a fine strain and give it a try.

Yeah, I've seen the frozen cyclop-eeze at several local shops. CRS had it a while back when I was in there. I thought YR had it too.....

Ok thats it, no more lurking around RC all day, office all packed up, and heading out, keep it up so I have a bunch to read when I get settled in....

Wow, beautiful tank & corals! Great inspiration & where I want to be with my tank in a few years, though I will have to get a bigger tank than my 55gal. I can see this already. I'm only 4 months in, but I'm enthralled with the hobby already.

Thank you for stopping in with the kind words. My first SW tank was a 55 gallon :) Good luck and have fun with it.

Chris- The tank is pretty well stocked right now. I have about 10 corals that need to get moved out sooner or later. They are nothing special, but they were pieces that had potential, but as I am running out of real estate, they might need to go.

As for fish, I am really getting closer and closer to putting some angels in my tank. Luckily, I am pretty selective so it is letting me stall a little longer.

I did finally get my hanna low range phosphate meter in today. I am hesitant to read the directions. I think my PO4 is higher than admirable. :(

what have you been measuring your phosphates with thus far?

I really don't test for them, but when I do, I just use the elos test kit. How about you?

Angels would be sweet!!

I had an alk swing in the last couple of days and am now losing a big colony of cali tort.

Everything else seems ok so far.

Let me know what you want to get rid of as I might be interested in some new SPS.
