Wow Mark, there’s a lot of stuff going on in that picture. Looks like you might need some help thinning out some growth. Maybe I should detour the family van to Sac-town and bring a pair of bone cutters.;)

Fantastic Tank Mark! I guess the beauty of it all helps you to stay in the game... Not to mention the dollars spent :) Both help to keep my focus

Thanks Jonathan. The tank has its ups and downs and its always the mysteries that baffle me. My enthusiasum comes and goes for the corals, but I will always enjoy the fish :p

Thanks Austin, I think that one will get put into a seperate folder for upcoming projects :p

To bad I tested my po4 today as I have noticed some browning since I added some newer media for my sandbed; and my po4 was .14 :eek1:

Is that what they're calling the sand bed these days?

Whoa! I can't believe that it had such a big effect on your total PO4. How long did you soak in RODI? How much did you add?

Thats not that bad Dan. A little new GFO and it should work itself out. I soaked and rinsed the new sunstrate for a couple weeks. I also lost a couple of the newer fish addition, so that might have added to the issues as well.

Basically ;)

Seems that it really bumped your PO4, wasn't it at like 0.03? What sand did you go with and how are the results so far? I may be going down the same path.

The last time I checked a couple weeks ago, it was at .06. The tank has never been below .05.

As for the substrate, I picked up a bag of Natures ocean Aragonite Gravel #4. Its the perfect size to help weigh things down.

It's interesting that adding new substrate increased your PO4. I've done it a couple of times before and never had any problems. Have you always had this issue or is it just this specific type of sand?
