Mark's upgrade to 120 Oceanic Tech

Incredible tank - very inspiring! My tank and lights are at the LFS and awaiting delivery, so as I prepare to start setting up my own reef, it was great to review your year's journey. I especially needed the reminder that even a fairly small rock structure will eventually fill the tank when the corals grow out. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much.Good luck with your project.I like to use small amount of rock in main tank,it looks better when corals grow out and are the main focus in tank, not rock.

Today I did some cleaning and rearranging. At the end I snapped few quick pictures.Enjoy.

Very nice. I have the new hang-on Octopus BP reactor. I think you might want to slow it down a bit to a gentle tumble. Too much and you'll grind the pellets down.

Sorry to see this tank go :( Good luck in your next endeavor!

Thanks, but I decided to keep it.Members from my local forums talked me out of selling this system and promised to help me with move.It was cool.Over 20 people offered their help.Feels good.:spin1:

Question. Do you dose anything else with the bio pellet reactor?
Looking to get one myself.

I'm guessing your not running gfo anymore, correct?

Yes,I dose Lugol's,and CoralAmino by Brightwell. I don't run GFO anymore. My PO4 stay constant undetectable by Hanna Checker. Make sure to feed more when using Bio pellets,as they are very effective of stripping water of nutrients.

That's awesome of them. I just moved and I had the same tank you do sitting in my garage waiting to be set up, but i ended up selling it because i didn't want to move it :( it is an awesome tank.

Amazing tank. I'm getting ready to upgrade to a 150g and will definitely use your tank as an inspiration. I read a few pages back that you were dosing Lugols, Strontium, and Brightwells CoralAmino. Are you still dosing this solution? If so, how much and how often?

I use biopellets and was also dosing these three, and never tested for iodine or potassium. Things started to turn bad, so I stopped, not knowing if it was my dosing.

Hey Mark, how's it going? Do u still like the LEDs? I'm in the process of building out a 60 rimless that I'm going to setup in June when we move. Thinking about going with AI Sols.

Good luck with your upgrade.150gal. is a nice size tank. Yes I still dose those solutions.I don't test for Iodine or potassium ( I think I should ). 3drops of Lugol's every third day,15 drops of CoralAmino every day,5ml.of Strontium twice a week.Hope this helps.

Hi Nick,it's been long time bud.Glad to hear that you still in the hobby. Can't wait to see your new tank. ( rimless-sweeeet :)).I still like my LEDs,but I am thinking to getting them customized and add few purple leds.Joe at Apollo can easily do this for me.Honestly speaking ( no offense to anybody) I saw AI Sols right next to my fixtures and I don't like them at all.I think I like the spectrum coming from Apollo is better than AI. Just my opinion and preference.Especially now that Apollo have different color leds and their fixtures are dimmables ,I think its worth looking into them. Of course it is just one man's opinion. I remember you had T5 on your tank, colors will be different from LED fixtures then your T5 fixtures. You might like it or not.It took few weeks for me to get used to my LEDs.Try to see those AI in person,so you can make good ,educated decision.Again good to hear from you.Keep us posted with your 60g.rimless.

I haven't seen any apollos in person, but have seen the AI sol blue and it's really nice. I don't care for the AI Sol white though. Looks to yellow to me. How do u like your new reef octopus bio pellet reactor? I hear good things about them as the put better flow through all the pellets.
