Hi Guys, this is my first post.... so I have 2 maroon clownfish, one is about 4" long, gold stripe maroon, most likely female as when I got her she was alone at the store. I've had her for about a month now. I got a 3/4" white stripe maroon from a maroon community tank that I am pretty sure is male; he's redder and upon first introduction he did the quiver-y thing a few times and did not get attacked immediately. However 3 minutes later he was being chased around and nipped at so badly that I put him in a clear specimen jar next to the females BTA. I've let him out every day, and by the 3rd day I had 20 minutes with no fighting, but no quivering either. The female would go over to him and he would try swim away, scared of her, and when cornered, he swam sideways a bit, she then left him alone. After that she would go over again, and he would swim away and when cornered just swim against the glass, and thats when she would attack him and would not stop chasing him. He's now back in the specimen jar next to her BTA again.
Should I give up and exchange him for a new one? or keep trying? I've been letting him out and putting him back in the specimen jar for 3 days now. Though the time in which he does not get attacked is increasing, he still ultimately gets attacked and tries to hide and seems lethargic for a while afterwards. Is there a reason why he is not quivering?
I'd appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks!
edit: here's a photo showing the size difference
