Mars Aqua Chinese LED review (Ebay)

use with reefkeeper lite?

use with reefkeeper lite?

Can these be used with RKL? Can blues & whites be controlled separately?

I have marsaqua led and i am currently using 2 fixtures on my 55 gallon tank for last 1 year. My tank is 36 inches long and having 2 lights has worked well for me. Good coral growth on a mixed coral tank (mainly LPS).
My question, I am planning to upgrade to 100 gallon tank with diminsions. 60Long x 18 Wide x 21 High. Can I get by 2 fixtures or should I add a 3rd one now as tank lenght has almost doubled. If i go by only 2 fixtures then this means that 1 fixture will have to cover almost 30 inches of lenght. My light hangs about 12 inches ftom water surface.
Thoughts/suggestions?

Hi, Chaudhry. Since you have used Marsaqua for about a year and obtained "good" growth, do you mind if I ask some questions? Did you switch out any of the LED diodes? And , the optics on or off?

According to the info from the seller, the unit only has 450nm and 460nm blue LED's. So, I'm wondering if I should add (by taking out some of the white) some 400-430nm LED's since these are supposedly the peak absorbed wavelengths for corals.

Thanks

It will depend on the type of dimming they use on the drivers. Yed blues and whites are controlled separately

I was just wondering if the lights can be controlled by the Reefkeeper Lite. Not planning on using it for dimming, only as a timer. I guess my question is more about being able to have 2 different light timers with the RKL.

Thanks.

No I did not make any changes to the LED, just kept it as it was. I agree, I have been reading a lot of posts lately that mentions switching of diodes. I haven't done any of that.

I'm not familiar with the rkl but if it has multiple controlled ac outlets then you should be able to. The mars aqua has separate ac power leads for the blue and white channels.

I'm controlling my array on a reefkeeper lite with no problems, just an investment in some "Y" cables due to the number of fixtures I'm using. I use the reefkeeper for simple on/off only, no ramping (although that would be neat, I admit).
Cheers,
Ray
