wow thats pretty loud...should be easy to replace with better fans...or maybe contact seller maybe something is bad...

I just got one of these lights as well. And I'm wondering if you can help me out a little bit. On your light, when you turn the lights on, do all three fans come on? I have mine set to %75 blues and %50 whites, and only two of the three fans come on. The one in the center and the one by the blue lights switch. And i'm not sure if all three come on only when set to 100%.

um...why dont you put your lights up all the way and see if they turn on...but all mine turn on tho..its like 75 blue and 25 whites....

I'm new to the "reef" tanks, as I used to only have fish only setups. I currently have a Current USA Orbit Marine LED 36-48" on my 50 breeder. I currently only have a green star polyp and some zoas. I'd like to get a light that would be better to make them grow better and also be able to get more of a variety of different corals.
My question is, would it be good to get 1 of the 300w Mars lights, or 2 of the 165w lights? I have a 50 breeder which is 36 x 18 x 18.

I have the 300 Watt over my 40 Breeder which has similar dimensions only its two inches shorter (36x18x16) and the 300 Watt covers the whole tank no problem. However if you want to be able to adjust the two sides of the tank the 2 165w would be the way to go.
One thing to keep in mind is the 300w is two power cords, one for blue and one for white. With two 165w units, you would have four, unless you wanted to modify the electronics for just one plug for each unit. Just to keep in mind.

I have an 80 cube(32x24x24) and use 2 of the 300W units. My thinking was no shadowing, and I could under drive them so they might last a bit longer( I currently have them set at 30% white and 45% blue) and are plenty bright enough.
Fans are super loud, but a simple replacement with 80MM silenx fans solves that issue.

Quick question from you LPS dominant folks:
I'm currently running my 300w Mars Aqua over my 40b. Everything is doing well, however I do not want to bleach my Acans or Torch Corals by running the LEDs too high (which I realize is a risk for a beginner like me). It's a relatively new tank and I've been running blues at maybe 45% for 10 hours with whites at minimum power for 4 hours. I'm doing this to help acclimate my new corals and restore some coloration on a few pieces that I got that may have been under stronger lighting.
How do you run your lights on your LPS dominant setup? How much is too much?
My current setup seems to be fine, although it's too early to gauge growth.

I will add that two of my torch corals have lost color when running my lights as stated above. It appears to be too strong for the Torch corals I purchased, as they may have been shocked in the last few weeks. Anyone here growing Torch corals specifically without losing pigmentation?
I have a gold torch in my 65, under a MarsAqua 300, and its color is terrific - but - it's in the back corner (which is still a viewing area), and I did rather suddenly lose one of the two polyps about a month and a half ago. Simply shriveled up and vanished over about two days, and I don't know why.

What percentage are you running your lights at? Is there noticeable transparency on the tentacles under white light?

I've grown bored with the stock spectrum on the Mars Aqua lights and would like to change out some diodes. Looking for some advice and criticisms on my planned layout. Top pic is original layout of Mars Aqua and bottom pic is of my proposed changes. To sum it up, I am changing most of the 460nm blues to 450nm and changing the lower Kelvin whites to 14k. I am also adding some UV, Cyan, and 420nm purple.

Anyone know if these can be mounted on the tank? I don't want to hang lights....looking at the 300w one for 75 tank. It doesnt appear that many are mounting it on a tank...

it would be too close to the water ..should be at least 8 to 10 inches above...for better coverage ...also how would you get in to do maintenance..
yea I was going say with leds lights you gonna need to raise up from the tank to allow for better coverage like @garygonzales said.
I just the 150w version of it I noticed it even with all blues that its still pretty white in my eyes. I was hoping for it be around 14k or higher look to my tank. has any one else notice this
