Mars Aqua Chinese LED review (Ebay)

I have a 30g mixed reef currently lit by 4 t5's. Bulbs need to be replaced and I think instead of replacing 4 bulbs I could buy one of these fixtures. The tank is 36" long but not very deep. Should I get the 165w or the 300w? 300w seems like overkill but I'm worried about coverage with only the 165w? I could do a 165 with 2 t5s retrofit. Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

They are only rated for a 24" spread, and thats the chinese manufacturers saying that. From my experience they always stretch the truth a bit. I'd go with 2 165w lights if you wanted to change.

i would do the one 300 watt fixture...but for best of both worlds you could do the retro fit with t 5s ..that would be even better...

my t5's are retro so I could use a 165w in the middle with a t5 on either side...
It really depends on if you may want to upgrade in the future to a 4ft tank. If that was a possibility then I would get 2-165 watt ones. If you don't ever plan on upgrading then 1 300 watt will be just perfect. No, the 300watt will not be overkill and if you add the two 165 watt fixtures it's 330 watts
But most led's under drive so the 165 watt is like 120 watt etc.fixingstill

Homer1475, so the 300W is using 0-10V signal off the led driver, right? You don't have to add a PWM to analog converter, right? 3-wire or 4 wire off the dimmer? Are there markings on the dimmer circuit board to tell the wires are grd, on/off, +V, and -V?

Wondering if anyone has tried a light diffuser film on their CBB's?
Specifically I'm referring to the "dc-fix sand light diffuser" material that was tested on a "little" tank forum.
I've had my fixtures (WiFi 165w x 2) for a while and while I'm content with the growth I'm getting, the shading on the undersides of my corals is driving me crazy.
I've just in the last week removed some of my lenses and swapped out some led's but the shaded spots remain.
From playing around with the intensities I know that higher up the shading will disappear but as it is, my lights are set low (15/43/43 max %'s for white/blue/royal blue; slowly ramping the white channel since the led swap) as I've dealt with bleaching.
I know with the diffusers I'll lose some power but I figure I have some headroom to play with and am looking for some other cheaper/easier options before I decide to bite the bullet and build a canopy and mount retrofit t5's or just go to a t5 fixture.

Thinking about getting 3 of these for a 180 (6x2x2 ft).
Currently using 250w mh x 3.
My favorite bulbs are Phoenix 14k both in terms of aesthetics and growth.
Would I be able to replicate that look? Coverage?

mine turn on when about 3/8 to 1/2 way up...did you turn your lights all the way up..they should turn on ...but when they are set low mine dont come on
These seem like they would be the best deal going. Wifi and has ramp capabilities. Anyone use these?

I tried to increase all channels above 75%..thinking it is a matter of wattage
True and false..
I noticed that the fans came on as a matter of temperature. They will come on when temperature exceeds 44 degrees Centigrade i.e. 45 deg..when it come down to 44 again they stop...So it is good for power efficiency
My light is the one with remote control..no wifi...
They said that The remote control LED can set 144 times in 24 hours ( 10 min intervals) ,but the wifi model can only set 60 times in 24 hours.
I bought here because none were willing to ship to my destination...

I personally would suggest considering double the amount you've currently planned on and use two per 24x24 section based on what I am seeing on my 180. Especially coming from 3x250w MHs.

I need some help. I have (2) brand new 165 watt Mars Aquas that I was going to use for a 60 gal cube. Well I bought a bigger tank before I set that one up. It is 5' 7" L x 20" W x 24" T.
Now here is what I need help with. Keep the (2) 165 watt lights and buy (2) more 165 watt lights OR Just buy (2) of the 300 watt lights?
The (2) 300s would look cleaner (which I like) BUT (4) 165s would be more light ( which I like too lol). Im thinking since I already have the (2) 165s I should just use those since they are new & I probably wouldnt be able to sell them for close to what I bought them for...... This will be fore a SPS & anemones.

HANDS DOWN just get 2 more 165w and call it a day. youll have more light for less money... for less then $200 youll have 4 units pumping light. just think how much one 300w goes for. your thinking 2 units of those lol. spend less then $200 for 2 more units and use the rest of the money that you would have spent on a couple 300 watters, on a new pump for the bigger tank, maybe towards a skimmer, or fish to stock the new tank, or corals to stock the tank...
its not my money, but the obvious choice would be save money and get 2 more 165w units and have optimal lighting
