i seriously wasn't intending on buying anything but i got lucky on a acan piece. i couldn't believe nobody was bidding on it.

I couldn't believe it either! If I had picked up a paddle I probably would have given in and bid on it... that's exactly why I didn't even grab a paddle. Congrats.

I picked up a rack last night as well. Check your seam? I put mine upside down in water and there were air bubbles :(

I picked up the pink elephants and the bubble gum monster. I've been tryin to locate a frag of the elephants for a while. they're even more elusive then the ppe. I think i spent $290 all together. It was great to meet a few new people and put some face with rc handles. Cant wait til the next frag swap in the fall!

Sam,

I am sure you will remember the number when it is posted next to your coral ;)

My daughter and I had fun, but only got one...the Lime in the Sky. We tried for quite a few, but didn't have the proper level of intent, I guess:eek2:

"A glass of soda and an understanding that my paycheck is not large enough."

That is pretty funny and I sure can relate. Maddies favorite piece was the Rainbow Stylo (what else?!). I told her that she could bid to $125, which lasted about a bid and a half. Congrats Mikey Donuts! You are now on my daughter's list.

It was nice to meet you, I'm sorry I didn't have anything for Maddie to do. I think I got caught up a little in the evening... :(

Anyone remember how much the Purple Monster, Fragglereef Palys, and Red/Green Scoly went for?

The 2nd PM went for the bargain price for $80 and the Green/Orange Scoly went for $170.

Double posted...and doesn't look like I am able to delete. I must not carry enough weight around here:)

Pete,

It was very nice meeting you too. No worries about putting Maddie to work. Maybe she can seek employment as a runner for the raffle in an upcoming meeting or the swap meet.

By the way, I thought you did a nice job as auctioneer. You kept something that could have been dry and boring, moving along OK and threw in a few laughs to boot. Sure seemed like a lot of $ was transfering hands...hope MARS did OK on their coral donations.

Thank you for the compliment!

We always need someone to draw raffle tickets, she is welcome to do so at any meeting she comes to.

See here for the specifics on how MARS did financially (we don't like to post this stuff on RC):

A quick thank you to the vendors for the partnership on this event. I think everyone agrees that this event was better than last years event?

By the way, I am very happy with my lone purchase. It is a very large LE frag (2") with really impressive color. Pete asked if there was any blue on it because his was all green. This frag actually has quite a bit of baby (i guess "sky") blue on the base and especially the tip.

The pic isn't the greatest, but in person the colors are pretty nice. I am enjoying it now because I am sure it will turn a little duller after awhile on my watch.

How much per polyp?

Its pretty funny as I sold 3 for $100 a couple weeks ago and I've had more PM's over the last couple days than ever before.

I'm very happy with my purchases. The white balance on these pictures is all screwed up, but here they are:

Cali Tort (2 frags for $40, so I got this for $20)

Karl's Candlelight ($50)

Palmer's Blue Milli ($80)

Purple Monster ($80)

Mark, it looks like you may be dipping a bit long. I hope the candleight pulls through as well as the last one. I can see skelaton on both.

had a great time hanging out last night. hanging out with old friends and meeting new faces. i'd say just by auction activity alone, the sacramento area is becoming a great resource for some choice coral!

honestly, i think the amount of rare/high-end/le collectors in our region is at an all-time high. and i've witnessed the revolving door for years.

pete, good job being the MC last night, i'm sure thats not an easy task. and kudos to everyone involved behind the scenes.

dang you hector for driving the price up on my only purchase! but i just had to have it :). **fingers crossed** that it recovers over the next few weeks...
