Mate for C. interrupta

Ok, my friend who recently picked up a pair of Interrupta can get me one around 3 inches for $1100. His supplier can get it in by sat and it'll be ready for shipping/pick up by next Tuesday. I can pick it up and ship out to you Karan.

I told him to get it for me. If you guys don't go for this one for any reason, I'll just keep it as my trio.

Excellent!
I've sent you an email with my contact info and I will get an import permit.

So I guess we're on our way everyone!!
How exciting is this!!!

Ok, I got your email. I've never shipped anything to Hawaii before and am not familiar with the import permit process. I was going to FedEx Priority Overnight the package to you. Do I just show your permit to the FedEx person when I ship it?

Also, regarding the logistics of shipping the fish. Do you want me to ship the fish out the same day I pick it up? Or do you want me acclimate it to my system and let it distress for like a week before I ship it out to you. I can keep it in my fuge if you want me to hold it.

Any chance for pix? Do you have any info re: donations?

Wayne- thanks for setting this up!

Paka- thanks for giving an amateur (like me) a chance to participate in something important!

Scott have a larger one
That's probably better suited for Karen male so they can start to do their business right away and its acclimating already. the one that is coming is approximately 3"

No picture. I'm sure it's en route. The wholesale pricing we got is insane and my friend only was able to get it for us just for this special breeding project. It's essentially more than 50% less than what I paid for both of my Interrupta.

Completely! Just amazing to watch this all come together, I'll likely never be in a position to own one of these angels, but still excited to play a tiny part with a donation.

Larger than 3"? I'm not sure you want to try and pair two large fish. Go with smaller... it's easier... just takes more time to breed.

The 3" one that is coming is probably going to Karen. Eric from Sdc is aware of it too that is why the special price.

I am just suggesting to Karen if she wants something bigger so it can start breeding right away.

In researching getting interrupta from Asia the permitting and shipping costs are very high so this does seem like a good deal and I have heard good things about Blue Harbor. I think a 3 inch fish is a good size for this project. A larger female would produce more eggs but I can start work with small amounts of eggs and a 3 inch fish should be large enough to spawn. I feel fairly confident that it will be a female and we have more chance of getting a male if we go larger.

Wayne, I will be going to the permitting office tomorrow and I spoke with them today to make sure we do this correctly. I can fax or email you the permit. The permit number needs to be written on the outside of the box and the copy goes inside the box. When it gets to FedEx in Honolulu it will be opened and inspected by an Ag. officer to make sure the fish in the box is that listed on the permit. I would like to pick it up at the airport FedEx rather than having it drive around hot Hawaii in the delivery truck. You can let FedEx know that and write my name and phone number on the box. They will call me when it has cleared inspection. I've done this before and it has worked out well. The only thing to avoid is having the box arrive after work hours for the inspector.

I think it would be good to let the fish have a break at your place before shipping out to Hawaii but I want to make this easy and convenient for you as well. There is also the risk of something being introduced to your system and I'd hate for that to happen. So I'll leave that up to you and I can accept the fish anytime. And Thanks Again!!!

Six medium-large Interrupta just arrived in the LA area from Blue Harbor. My lfs just receive 2 of them and a friend received a pair as well. I can go to the lfs and see what he's charging if you guys want. I'm sure it'll be cheaper. If anyone has a direct contact at bh, I'm sure that'll be the cheapest route as I know how much my friend paid for his pair and it is considerably cheaper than the price of one retail.

are any going to bluezoo? we should contact mike...

Wayne,

When it comes time to ship why don't you contact Scott Fellman at Unique Corals. They have the styro boxes, bags and oxygen, and they get great rates from Fedex and I am sure would be happy to help with this project.

Actually, I leave it up to you...she's your baby now :)

I'm fine either way. Like I said before, I can keep her in my fuge (which is essentially a 40 gal tank with some chaeto in it) so she'll be separated from the rest of my fish population. I'm not really about worry new fish bugs being introduced into my system. I can also turn it around the same day and pack her up and ship her out the same day in a styrofoam box. I'll drop her off late afternoon and she'll hopefully be delivered by 10:30am so the transit time shouldn't be too long. Just let me know what you decide.

So it looks like we've got most of the details worked out. Do you have the funding site up yet? I would guesstimate that shipping will run about $150. I want to ship her with plenty of water. If anyone has a FedEx account with a discounted rate that we can use, that would be ideal. Otherwise, I'll just pay that day. I was gonna say I'll take care of the shipping and that'll be my contribution, but after thinking about it, I think I should be reimbursed for the Interrupta and actual shipping costs. I'll then make a blanket donation to your website just to keep uniform with everyone else and you can keep an accurate account of what all your real costs are.

Otherwise, I'll just stand by for further instructions from you and I'll keep you guys updated on my end.

Hey Dave, I don't know him and thus feel uncomfortable asking. If you want to ask, I'm sure everyone will appreciate it. I already have large styro-boxes from previous purchases. I hoard them just in case for reasons like this :)
