Glassing prep

Glassing prep

Hi Matt

Good progress I see.

As the temperatures are dropping in the UK and we need to get the fibreglass work done within certain parameters so I'm going to need to send some gear up to you and for you to keep it warm for me please.

Pretty much as we discussed on my visit earlier about temperatures so nothing to worry about, just got to make sure it all goes to plan before I go away.

Speak soon, phone is always on.

Matt

I have been extremely busy recently and un-subscribed from a number of threads here a few weeks ago.

Not this one :)

Glad to see you're still making progress and I am really looking forward to seeing you get that tank fiberglassed!!!

Thanks Dustin
I have been busy also so updates are few and far between, remaining subscribed to this thread probably won't cause you too many interruptions

Hi Matt
Well you have been busy and it looks fantastic. The plumbing looks very neat and well thought out ( not that I would expect anything else from you ) Re the valve with the blue spot not matching ? Just get your paint brush out and paint a blue spot on the others lol.
Like the clean lines of the white tiles and black work surfaces as well.
This tank is going to be dream to maintain with all the bypasses ect you have installed, cant wait to see the display tank ready for scaping.

Cheers Martin

Hi Again Matt

Re the mounts for the laguna pumps, I have been playing with epo putty. If you cover the pump body with cling film, then push the pump into a mount filled with epo putty you get an exact fitt with any shapped surface. When the putty has gone off you just take the pump out and remove the cling film. This works for all kinds of odd shapped things.
Thought you would be intrested in the idea ?

Cheers Martin

Ha Ha martin, Epo Putty you say?...I have heard it is the future lol. I did think of the exact same method...I even knicked the clingfilm from the kitchen when the wife wasnt looking!! The reason I chose the method I did was due to having a mass of the rubber matting surplus to requirements. I also have to mount 4 closed loop pumps in a similar fashion and then mount them to the wall, I felt that the wooden rubber clad option would suit this aswell....and it has to match!
Since adding the skimmer shelf the blue dot isnt as much of an eyesore as it was, I have however put an order in for a single handle to match the rest!...I need a life!

I see you have amassed 16 posts now!..feel free too post a pic of your tank in this thread if you want, it would be good to see it.

Wow...
You're a real do it yourself!
Congratulations...!!!

Thanks Baghyyy

A little more done tonight

Gave the remaining stand it's first coat of paint.Plumbed in the effluent to the skimmer, added the ozone generator and redox probe.

I raised the filter sock holder in the return vat with an egg crate stand. This sock will have carbon in it for the skimmer to return into.

Everything is looking great! Still tagging along...

Thanks Launchnukes.

A couple of pics of tonights progress.

This vat is approx 260 ltrs and will be the mangrove tank. The t5s are 6500k. In normal use the water will enter via the lower pipework, however I will be able to bypass the tank before the mangrove tank to use as a water change.

The mangrove tank has a 63mm standpipe that will overflow into the 600ltr DSB.
