MaxiJet Mods?

I had them but on the mj1200 and it blew the sand off the bottom of the tank. They do work well, but the 1200 was too strong for my 90gl w/ a sand bottom.

I am thinking of putting it on a Maxijet 1200 that is near the top of the tank pointing across to the back of the tank. I do have a DSB in my tank.

What do you think?

My 90gl is 48" across and it was alot of flow with a sand bed. I got some used tunze nanostream 6045 and they work great. They are more expensive but they stand behind their product. They impellar broke on mine and the shipped my a new motor free of charge just from posting in the tunze forum about the problem I was having. Aquahut sells them for the lowest price, at least 30 dollars less than other places. But you can get a med flow mod kit, I had the high flow.

i did a 1200 and a 900 like 8-9 months ago they work great no problems yet, lots of flow in my 125 keeps the food moving around. my hippo tang and angel like to swim into the currents.

I have 2 1200's setup on a wavemaker on a 90 Gal. I just set them up about a month ago to replace a Koralia and a seio. These are the ones that I got "Algae Free Sure Flow 1600 Maxi-Jet Upgrade Kit". Marine Depot carries them. They just recently started shipping them with a different propellor which puts out more flow. They claim 1600gph. It definitely puts out a lot of flow. When I had both of them on at the same time, it kicked up a little sand from the bottom, but not too bad. On the wavemaker, they are alternating on and off so that has worked well for me. My corals are definitely enjoying the extra flow. They are a little noisier then I would prefer, but not so bad that I would stop using them. Definitely noisier when you first set them up but then after a few days it gets better. The adjustable bracket is nice. Definitely get the magnets, this way you don't have to worry about the suction cups falling off. If you are looking for a cheap alternative to a Tunze, this is the way to go.

My mistake, the high flow propellor that comes with the maxijet mod that I referred to above actually puts out 2000GPH. It's 1600gph if you use the other propellor that comes with it. You have to use the Maxijet 1200 for the high flow propellor.
