Maxxs' 220g Journey...!

On my old 150 gallon tank, I had 2 Powder Blues, 2 Gold Rim, 2 yellow, 2 Blue Hippos an Achilles and a Purple Tang. I purchased all of them small. Less than 2 inches.

i figured with my system and total water volume, i can keep 6 or 7 tangs. as long as only 1 of those tangs grows to be large..yellows i can have a couple then maybe throw in another tang or two depends on conditions. what do you think? but 2 powder blues?

waiting on my BRS order, and whats on the way...

DMFit Filter Strainer
BRS 150 GPD Water Saver Upgrade Kit
1/4" Aquatec 8800 Booster Pump Kit
BRS 4 Stage RO/DI Replacement Filter Kit
also got some extra tubing and some fittings to go with it...

and ordered some chaeto for my fuge off the bay...

YES... I love fittings... They are fun to use.

haha right, im a fan of being hands on and like tinkering with the little things as much as looking at the tank itself. had a couple ideas, and was like well i mite as well do this and eventually ill do that, so i ordered everything now lol...never had a RO unit before always bought from store. When first researching RO units, it was a lil overwhelming to be honest, but once you get an understanding of how it works and what each part does, its not that bad. like i said tho, i like being hands on, so im gunna make this unit perform how i want it too...or atleast how i imagine i want it to go lol..

Been looking at ocellaris clowns all day it seems...cant decide. im too picky lol...here are my choices..

regular ocellaris
black ocellaris
snow onyx ocellaris
snowflake ocellaris
black ice designer ocellaris

maybe even 4 of the 5, its a big enough tank,,,,hmmmmmmm

WOW.. I would do all of them in pairs... but that would mean me spinning up a new tank. Prob like 500g with like 5 anemones and a few gigs.

Looking at powder blues and browns on my new system.......not the best of luck w them in the past.....sloooooooow is key im told

i wouldnt mind getting two pairs of ocellaris in this system. especially different kinds and colors. but i think eventually two pairs will go in, just wondering if i should drop all 4 in and let them pair them selfs, or 2 at a time?? what you think?

slow is exactly right..tangs need an established tank...so tangs, clams, and anemones arent going to see this tank for atleast another 6-7 months...

We have a whole anemone/clown section here in RC. That question would best be asked in there for a lot of answers.

If you drop them all in they might miss-pair and it will look strange with the offspring/fry. It would be better to keep them separate for a while and let them pair on their own then combine them. BUT force pairing is not a good thing to do. Which is why I do not believe in a shotgun wedding.

to be honest id prolly get them in pairs. when i place a fish order id order a pair, then a month or so later make another fish order with the other pair. something like that i think would work... but my prob is, i like regular ocellaris, misbarred, etc etc like i listed,,hmmm i hate making decisions sometime...

I feel for you. I live on the outer banks and I have seen my fair share of storms. Being originally from NJ, Atlantic City specifically, I could not watch the news. I couldnt take seeing the devestation of my "home". 20 years in NC and we have been ripped down and put back together so many times I dont even bat an eye anymore. But you guys just were not prepared for Sandy. It still chokes me up even now. So, thank you for pushing on and staying positive. Your tanks were amazing before and I know they will be once again. Good luck to you!

thank u thank u,,it was a storm that will be talked about for some time, but honestly whats done is done. we were all faced with a common link, we didnt have a choice dealing with the storm of this size. it was ok, here it comes, we'll see whats next after the storm. hard pill to swallow so to speak...

but im hoping i can get this new 220 looking even better then those systems. im gunna be more picky about selection. especially wit corals. i had my run with invading corals. so ill pick and choose what goes in this tank...im hoping within 5-6 months i have a nice hand full of corals, and stocked with a bunch of smaller fish to really establish the tank..then when the system is about 8 months, then ill start adding the goodies like tangs, shrimp, clams, anemones...all part of the do process...

I just got my goodie box from BRS... set up a lil bit, still gotta play with those fittings and run lines to where i have my filling station and all...well filling area, station just sounds better lol...

the goodies, and my pup inspecting everything like usual..

just threw the unit and booster pump on a piece of wood. not fancy, but better then on floor or where ever..not gunna lie, made me feel a lil proud realizing how dedicated i am, and a lil throw back by my excitement... i wasnt sure how into this i would be after the storm and all. but this tank and build is keeping my mind busy. and i like so far. im in my 5th week of being set up. all parameters are fine, even with ghost feeding several times during these 5 weeks, parameters never really got out of wack....maybe a handful of small damsels or chromis to kick start the journey and start really establishing this system...

i also got the prepump strainer, i hear these are good to add on these pump systems. im just supt i will double my water production and having the booster pump means better success for the RO/DI unit. it was sad, i would only get to 40psi from the well every so often. i was burning thru DI resin like no other...

wow, those first photos are heartbreaking. Sorry for the loss. Looks like you're bouncing back great, cannot wait to see the tanks progress!!
