This guy hasn't been doing so well lately. I've had an ongoing battle with dinos for a couple months, tried a 3 day blackout and it looked like this after the blackout. Also saw some color fade on my hammer coral. After the blackout I got a RO/DI system (was using distilled water jugs before) and did a few water changes, later learning that water changes are counterproductive to the fight with dinos. I've since started dosing hydrogen peroxide and running GFO in a reactor, also holding off on water changes.

Is this maze saveable? any tips and suggestions? This fight with dinos is really trying my patience! Tanks been up for 7 months.

Unfortunately I'd say it's beyond the point of return at this point. Bummer about your water! One question that may possibly be overlooked: Does the tank face direct sunlight? It almost looks like the dino has a pattern, maybe water flow in those areas?

the tank does receive a fairly significant amount of sun through a nearby window, other than keeping the curtain closed there's not much I can do about that.

I gotta say I'm about ready to throw in the towel.

Been dosing peroxide for about a week now, seems to have little effect on the dinos.

Cutting back on lighting.

Used PH Buffer to raise to 8.4. I put some buffer in my new ATO (Hydor) and the system put WAY too much top off water in the system and my alkilinity spiked to 20ish, dosed some calcium to help reduce it, trying to avoid water changes because of the dinos.

STILL DINOS.

Woke up this morning and my ATO once again added way too much top off water.

Was cleaning and syphoning out some of the dinos with a syphon and baster, clown nipped at me and i yanked my arm out of the tank and cut my arm up.

Sorry to hear you removed it. Mazes can recover even from dead skeleton due to live tissue in the heart, but only in excellent water. Watch your alkalinity (8.3 dkh) and calcium (420) and magnesium (1300.)

I've been feeding 1/2 as much every other day now and it has helped the dinos. Also I make sure to change GFO regularly and keep up on water changes.

From what I've read water changes aren't a good idea when dealing with dinos

My Dinos are now gone after about 2 weeks. This worked well for me.
