Meanwell LDD driver: for those who want to dim to 0 using Arduino

They heard from me right away, and they did offer to replace any that I found non-working. Would still rather not had to have line up all those fiddly little pins to fit into the machined-pin sockets.

That sucks! But weird? I've ordered 3 times from them and they've always arrived in really nice padded boxes with all the drivers lined up in neat rows. I'd contact PowerGate LLC and verbally tear'em a new %*@#^#$!!!!

I agree with O2Surplus. you should not have to straighten out all those little pins.
They should replace any that were bent or compensate you for the time you spent straightening everything out.

The LDD-700s (10 of them) arrived with their pins embedded in nice 1/2" thick foam, all safe and sound.

The LDD-1000s (34 of them) started their journey similarly embedded in layers of foam, but it was 1/16" thick at most -- like something you'd wrap an iPhone in -- and had no structural integrity at all. So they all fell out, and made the rest of the journey tumbling around inside the bag. :-/

I just finished up modifying the above 10V Analog/5V PWM dimmer to act as a manual dimmer. This dimmer should work for just about any Led driver that accepts a 5V PWM signal. Now you'll be able to adjust the output current of your LDD's "the old fashioned way", by turning a knob! LOL

Here's a picture of the PcB design-

I'll post the build files and software needed- if there's any interest.
now it just needs the code to allow, manual control, controller input, hybird manual plus controller dimming, all via some little selector switches or something, :)

....for when you get bored some evening :D

I have interest in such a dimmer -- I won't have a controller with which to test my light build for a while, and would like to test as I go.

I don't suppose you have one you'd part with...

... or lend ...
asid61 posted a sketch and part list to make a 6 channel knob dimmer from a basic arduino nano and pots off of good old ebay for really cheap somewhere along the way.......that would be the base hardware for a proper controller later.

LOL. I haven't even run the CAM processor on this design yet! I'll probably finish cleaning up the design over the next couple of days and then put in an order for 10 boards, so I'll send you one when I get them. I know of only a few people that are running led lighting that don't already have a controller. They're Old school "Knob Users" so I'll have to include YOU in that group until your controller is completed.;)
I'm one of those knob people still, as I have quite a few tanks that don't really justify a fancy controller, but still benifit from basic dimming (all at once) for acclimation :D

kind of looks like they figured you were an individual consumer and not a legit business and decided to cheap out on shipping and dump them all into one bag instead of sending in the factory sleeves that protect them........
As many as you ordered, I'd be very ticked off!

LOL- Now you tell me! I just pulled the trigger on a batch of these! I'm trying to keep it cheap and simple, but what you proposed should be doable....Hmmmmmmmm? (wanders away to his "Lab" deep in thought)

I continue to receive notifications about new posts in this thread, but can't see any more recent than post 1892. Did this get split? Is it just me?
