Mertens carpet available to me

hey everybody my lfs has a mertens carpet in which they just got today i havent seen it but he posted pics of it for me. Its pretty small around 4" but the mouth is tight and looks pretty good.

he wants $140cdn and not even sure how crazy that is price wise but it looks good. This is for my clown harem tank and just wondering if i should pull the trigger on it?

Not sold on mertensi. Pictures of the foot are necessary for more definitive ID, but the fact that it appears to be buried in the sand is a red flag - mertensi are rock dwellers.

i am going tomorrow....if there is a pile of verracue its coming home. The tenticles looks like every picture i have seen of ever single mertensii online so tomorrow will be 100% yay or nay

I'm not a huge fan of paying a lot of money for a mertensii. Unless you find one with some color, they typically end up just being a dull brown.

Just left lfs hes going to keep it until tomorrow for me. I will post pics when i get home. 1000% its a mertens. Nice bright magenta verracue veins, only down fall is the female thats hosting in it keeps jamming her face in its mouth and will gape then close up. Hes going to move it away from the clowns till i go back tomorrow...Pics to follow everyone

What size tank will it be going into if you buy it?

50g with a 20g sump... Yes its small for the tank but its 4" diameter right now and im looking at a 90g right now. There will be nothing else in the tank other than it and clowns

The pictures do not do it actual justice...its got super bright yellow tips and random white tenticles. He is moving it and hopefully the mouth will tighten back up and get it away from the sand and the other anemone. He didnt want to move it till i came in and saw it because he was scared it would close up and be more ****ed off but i asked him to move it for tomorrow. Anyways case in point hopefully the mouth will tighten up and be less stressed. It is gorgeous though!

I would be cautious. When clowns start messing with an anemones mouth like in the pictures it's generally not a good sign. And it looks like it might be sick. Was it sticky?

Wasnt pretty today huuuge gaped mouth so it didnt come home but was still sticky hes gonna keep it and hope for the best, myself included

That anemone should have gone home with you yesterday, and been put directly in a treatment tank, not necessarily using meds, but with 24 hour aged saltwater, changed every 24 hours until it stabilizes. Anemones are bags of water. Crappy water, crappy looking anemone. Leaving it may have put it past the point of no return.

Sticky anemone means nothing.

A carpet tentacles can fall off of the anemone then stick tightly to anything organic. Strictly carpet tentacles means. Of I g when it come to the anemone'so health
