I think (know) you'd both find that you could stop all the AF dosing except for the -NP Pro and Pro F and your corals would still have great PE. I use them alone with NSW, nothing else being dosed and PE improves significantly. Better response than anything I've tested/run in 30 years in the lab including every other carbon/bacteria on the market.
I'm not suggesting the other supplements aren't helping or that you should stop using them. Just that the PE is from the carbon/bacteria.
Both of you guys have great looking tanks.
Matt the fish are a really nice addition and the Rebellion will definitely kick some @$$
Yes, except the bacterial strains are in ProBio S- the NP Pro is the carbon source. There are also aminos and vitamins in the probiotic salts, so if you aren't dosing those there would be a difference. 4 buckets of Probiotic salt makes well over 500 gallons at reef salinity though so you can do 20% changes for a long time with what you have.Questions !!!
I have stocked 4 22 kg buckets of Probiotic AF salt , so I have for several months. But they are not cheap. And neither I am going to run the full AF system. As you know my system is working with the refugium and Matrix, plus ~ 20% WC every week.
With that introduction, I would like to know, if the revels of these thread think that when I have used all my AF Probiotic salt y can just move to the marine salt and keep my bacteria population with the NP Pro. I was doing that with Biodigest when I was using Reef Crystal salt.
One more, the NP Pro really needs to be dosed every day or I can just dose every week to keep that "good Bacteria strains". With Biodigest I was dosing once per month.
I will be waiting the rebel's comments on those questions.
Best !
Daniel
You certainly have a sweet deal with NSW flowing from the taps In your opinion, which of the supplements are most and least useful for a situation like mine where water changes are minimized?I think (know) you'd both find that you could stop all the AF dosing except for the -NP Pro and Pro F and your corals would still have great PE. I'm hit!'Commander don't waste a colony on that acro rabble, send them running back into the cyano swamp they came from with a few growing tips and then continue sweeping this rebel cesspool for anything of value before we obliterate it........'
I'm not using the Aquaforest method.. Just the bacteria periodically and coral b which always makes the tank look crystal clear the next day.. And some coral food.
Thinking about the micro E, however..
I think it's pretty difficult to compare nsw to anything.. For me, the minute I hear nsw, all other comparisons go out the window.. Nsw trumps all..
Matt, you can really see the colour shift now!
Looking good!
That was a nasty shot across the bow, from the Aussi invasion.
This will be a long and protracted color war!!!
Matt,
Awesome group of photos, your recent FTS of the SPS tank shows significant clarity and the color spread is beautiful From looking over all your coral pics, I see many of the same things happening in my tank right now, especially the tips of the corals, like yours, stand out off the base color. I cannot believe how fast this thread updates, I feel lost on your journal in like 24 hours, lol...
May the force be with you Mattkenobe

The vitamins and Aminos are intended for the corals' health, They probably can be consumed by the bacteria as well. If you are going without supplements, Id stick with the Probiotic salt. Adding some bacteria from the ProBio S wouldn't be a bad thing in addition. Thanks for the answer. Yes, I meant Pro Bio S,....this old brain ...
Your point about the vitamins and aa present in the Probiotic salt was something that was making me think if it was really good to go the Marine Salt. I was not sure if those vitamins and aa are in the Pb AF salt to keep the Bacterias alive or really to provide a benefit to the whole system. I never got that clear from AF guide.
I will not be dosing their products because it is imposible for me to keep consistency, unless I quit my job. That is why I was going to add a shot of Pro Bio S , at least once per week.
If the rebels think that I better keep my system with the Pb AF salt, then I will have a couple less of burgers during the month to save to pay for the difference with the standard AF marine salt. :bounce2:
Thanks....Daniel
Great as always i just hope when i change my lights over my corals will start to look half as good!
Hi Matt,
Can you please post a picture of your new anthias? Are they feeding well?

All hail the Aquaforest rebellion!
