Micro bubbles and flow question

Got a 24x24x20 high tank that i am transforming from a sps into seahorse tank. Question is i have a deltec mce 600 skimmer and when i feed the skimmer dumps a bunch of bubbles into the tank will this affect the seahorses? I am thinking it will. What power heads are seahorse safe? How much flow should i have in the tank being its about 50 gallons.A few Turbelle nano stream 6025 at 625gph would this be too much flow?

While the skimmer bubbles may be unsightly, they don't pose a harm to the seahorses. The bubbles you worry about are those that are injected into the water from a high pressure pump and creates gas supersaturation. Skimmers don't normally create gas supersaturation.

I don't use power heads in any of my seahorse tanks so I will let someone else give advice on it.

There was a thread on Powerheads within the last couple days. I have a lot smaller tank so I'm probably not much help but I have an Aqua Clear and microJet, because they are pretty seahorse friendly (tails don't have much to get caught in).

SPS and seahorses wont work.

Seahorses cant stand the current you need for SPS ...

I have about 25 turns per hour in my seahorse tank, via 2 power heads (maxijet) and the return, I dont think seahorses can take more than that :) and that is not enough for SPS ...

I have mine with soft corals, and sea fans and ....

Bluetang,

How is your system set up? There's a good chance you don't even need PH's. The only PH I've ever run on a SH setup is because I had to drop a MJ1200 (with an intake guard) into a smaller sumpless setup to drive the chiller.

I saw the power head thread but was for a much larger tank. Sorry for the misleading I am switching from sps to ponies. Lighting will be from a geiseman 250 watt halide or a vertex illumina led. It will be a while before any ponies added just picked up my branching rock now letting it seed. As for flow i don't think what the skimmer puts out would be adequate. Being its -30 here in canada the tank temp had dropped to 66 deg F i think i will need a small heater and run t in the media compartment of my skimmer.

My tank is not drilled so no sump.

You can buy/make an acrylic overflow, or even a PVC overflow to a sump.
I have them on four of my seahorse tanks.

Perhaps you could add a Biowheel filter as a water circulator. You could either use media or convert it into a mini fuge. My filter has an intake extension that pull water from the bottom of the tank.
