Mike's 200g

Thanks for the top I had not heard this. Do they prey on anything else (apart from smaller snails as you mentioned) that we might wish to keep in our reefs?
I have no direct or personal experience with them and it's hard to find any info but what I've read is that they don't bother fish nor corals. If I'm not wrong, they do not breed in our aquariums so it wouldn't be that hard to move them to the sump once they have cleared the pest so they don't predate on other things if hungry.
I'll have to add them to my tank in a near future 'cause I have way more more vemetid snails than I'd like to, they are small though.

Well while i am waiting to be able to add acros again at least i got something nice to look at in the frag tank

Crappy pic try out with new cell phone.. Not an acro so didnt care about getting out the nikon

Hi Mike,

sorry you lost all the acros, how strange. Turning pink seems like it must have been some kind of contaminant or disease. Looking forward to seeing the rebuild.

I put a side by side of the tank before and how the tank is now so you can see the extent of the damage.

The corals i do still have are looking quite nice again and even some pieces i thought were dead are coming back to life. I have however removed all traces of acro from the tank now.

Not an sps. This one i got as a freebie for helping a local reefer install a new tank. Wanted to capture those sweepers...meaning i cant put it anywhere near anything else. Right now its in the frag tank.

Thought this was complety dead...

Boy I feel your pain Mike. I've been thru two crashes in my time keeping acros and it just sucks. I hope it all comes back quickly once you start restocking the sticks.

Beautiful shot!
It's alway a gulp moment seeing the before and after.. in that direction..
ouch.
Won't be long.. the current corals are looking very good.

I liked that shot 2. I used snapseed i think from your recommendation. I sharpened the pic a little, slightly adjusted the color temperature and then used a feature to darken the background to make the coral stand out more. Its a very nice tool so thanks for the lead on it.

Yeah water is fine for a ro again and what i had was growing and recovering again. I just had to remove it all and cant add any new back in untill a couple months for AEFW.

Yikes! That is some serious destruction. That must be so disheartening to not even know what the cause was. When you say you got zapped, like how bad? I haven't seen stray voltage do THIS kind of damage before. Were any of the LPS affected? I can't see the stray voltage being the issue no matter how bad if the LPS weren't affected as well. Did you run some sort of heavy metal absorber? Very systemic issue. Wow. So sorry for your losses. Threads like this scare the crap out of me.

I lost a duncan colony. I dont have many lps corals but a couple fungia plates which are both ok. I dont think it was just the stray voltage either but it may have contributed.
I ran zeo mix, carbon and phosphate minus (gfo) all from aquaforest.

Really sorry to see you lose those beautiful corals. Wishing a speedy recovery!
Are you continuing to use Aquaforest?

Just had to get rid of my emperors today :( 1 was full adult and the other was in changing form when I got the about a week apart little over a year ago.. They were hostile for a couple days and the just chilled. Unfortunately they got a taste for everything in my tank, started with zoos then anything meaty.. Final straw was my mummy eye chalice they discovered the eyes and started on that.. So now My LFFS has taken the pair and Im back to restocking my tank.. keep an eye on that Emperor hope your luck is better than mine :(

Mine loved acans, but so far hasn't bothered anything else at all. They are beautiful fish and i hope he behaves so i dont have to make the same choice you had 2.

Oh man sorry for the losses, sucks starting over especially when you have such a nice tank going on. To top it off, not knowing what did it probably hurts worst. I hope your collecting goes smooth and the new stuff does well. Your tank looked awesome! Anything your going to change up this time?
By the way I love that emperator, our favorite fish. It's hard to let ours go but we have to find a big tank for it to grow in. The wife will have to be eased into that conversation.

Looking fora little advise. Not sps related but fish related.

In the past 3 weeks i have lost my blonde naso and today my leopard wrasse (that i have had for close to 4 years and changed from female to male in my tank). Both fish were eating as normally as they ever have (really well) appetite and aggressiveness to eat never changed. But, they both seemed to be skinny in the past month or so. No obvious signs of ick or anything. I was thinking internal parasites or worms or something, but no sign of white stringy poop. Couple of my anthias are also looking a little bit skinnier lately 2.
So not sure what to do. Sounds like intestinal worms but no white poop. As tank is not very stocked with coral i guess i could treat tank with prazipro (supposed reef safe anyway) also heard about soaking food .... But mixed outcomes with that. Not sure what to do...or should i not do anything and chalk it up to coincidence? Advise please.

I dosed my tank with prazi pro. Sorted out a fluke issue I was having. I'm full SPS.
The SPS sulked for a while and lost a little colour but not much. The biggest issue was ph. I saw a big drop due to having to turn skimmer off. Also have a nem and shrimp and nothing died (apart from the flukes).

If your fish are losing weight but are eating normally its a good sign of internal parasite. I'd say treat if you have a lot of stock that you cant catch/treat in a QT.
