mini carpet anemones?

Has anyone ever heard of a "mini carpet anemone"? I bought something labeled as such from my lfs a few months ago. It looks like a bright green ricordea that is perfectly round and about the size of a nickel. It has a foot like an anemone and it is mobile. It has also split twice since I have had it. I'm at work, so I don't have any pics right now, but I could probably get one if needed. Any ideas? I haven't found any info on them anywhere.
Thanks,
Casey

Do a search on Stichodactyla tapetum. Or, if you'd like more specific information on where (mostly) they came from, limit your search to postings by "Gary Majchrzak".

Ive got two of them. They will tike food anytime. Had mine for 6-7months and havnt split. They dont seem to want to roam that much either. They are really cool.

they are fromthe atlantic ocean and are very hungry will eat anything including healthy fish

GSMguy.. what are you referring to? the S. Tapetum?? if that is the case you are way off with that comment(not in anyway trying to start an arguement).. i have tons of these(and know tone of people in my local reef club with them as well) "mini carpets" and they dont even harm my corals when they touch them. i think you may be thinking of another type of atlantic anemone(helianthus).. i dont even think S. Tapetum comes from the atlantic(not positive though).

GSMguy, completely different species or something. They are more like mushrooms then w/e you are describing. definitely not mini carpets. Imo they have never stung my corals or anything. Cool little guys

Mine look exactly like Gary's. It is definately Stichodactyla Tapetum. Thanks guys!
GSMguy, that little nem looks pretty cool too. How big is it?

I have em in all my tanks and they never hurt any corals. But be careful with them around small slow moving fish such as pipefish or firefish. If one of these fish lays up against a cluster of these anemones they will be killed.
