Mixing 10 year old mated pair of Tomato clowns with mated pair of gold striped maroon

I have an 10 year old pair of Tomato clowns in three bubble tips on the left side of a 120 gallon with 200 lbs. of live rock.

I also have a few 4" to 5" triggers and two puffers.

I would like to get a pair of Maroon Clownfish to host in my True Carpet on the right side of the tank.

I have two options:

1) a mated pair of 2 1/2 to 3 inch gold striped maroons

2) one x-large at 4" plus and one large at 2 1/2 to 4 inch fish and hope they pair up

Any ideas?

Give me $20 on the maroons if you do it :D

But really you need an option 3: dont add any more clowns to that tank.

I would probably not add another pair. Maroons are aggressive, and they may want the BTA instead of the carpet and then you'll have a fight.

I believe tomatoes are also considered aggressive but I've never had one.

Neither. Not a good idea to mix clownfish species. Considering you already have an established pair, it's very likely they will kill the new clownfish.

I'm hoping this isn't a real question. Tomatos and GSM are some of the nastier clown species commonly available.

Even having two pairs of percs or O's in a 120 is a very risky move.

Having additional anemones does not mean they will only claim one and leave the rest of the tank alone.

If you really want the maroons, get rid of the tomatos, or at least setup a different tank for them. Please don't add them in. It'll be a cage match to the death.

Finsky,
I have seen picture of your 120 g tank from your other posts. That tank really need removal of fish rather than adding more fish IMHO.

Tomatoes are not as aggressive as GSM but they are right up there with A. clarkii

This Finsky guy is really looking hard for someone to approve his idea. He posted this exact same question in 10 different threads in about 15 minutes last night - even attempting to revive 1 and 2 year old threads with his question. I think he searched "Maroon Clownfish" and spammed every thread that came up with this question. I'm making that assumption based on posts in other FS threads, and even a lightning marroon clownfish thread. *eyeroll

That really irritates me. Obviously he has no patience to wait for an answer. I've already told him to quit hijacking threads with those same questions when his has already been answered.

Pimafix and Melafix

Orion:

What do you think would happen if I added one dose of Melafix on the first day and one dose of Melafix and one dose of Pimafix on the second day and then stopped to see what would happen on the third morning?

I already apologized to Mr. X about hijacking.

Sorry about your irritation.

I made my decision and will not put a shark in my tank.

Maybe some Gold Bond?

All your posts in the other threads will be removed and everyone else's replies. In the future do not post the same post over and over. Once in this forum, or the appropriate forum is enough.

Howdy there folks:

Picked up three 1" baby Gold Band Maroons at Petco.

They are living upstairs next to the 65 high planted Amazon Discus tank.

They were the only three in the tank.

Got a 10 gallon starter with a submersible heater and glass lid.

Got home and put 10 plus lbs. of live rock from the 120 gallon high tank in the living room and put two Hagen 402 powerheads on the bottom of the tank, one on each back corner. Used water from the 120 and am doing a weeks dose of Stability, just to be sure everything goes well. The water was very clear today when I came home from work. Fed them twice about four to five hours apart, with very small pinches of Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef flakes.

Plan is to move them into a 29 or 37 gallon within the next six months as needed.

Drs. F & S has iron stands for 29/20 over under. Could put the 29 breeder tank on top and a 20 gallon on the bottom to raise fry.

Ole!

I have a pair of tomatoes and a pair of mochas in a 6' 125g tank. The mochas give the tomatoes a run for their money.
