mixing MJ w/ Tunze streams?

anyone do this? i have 6 MJ1200's and am thinking about adding 1 tunze stream 6000(1850gph) on a controller. i wish i just started tank from beginning w/ tunze streams but i had already went way over what i thought initial setup would cost, and i don't feel like blowing twice as much now on 2 streams when i can just add 1 to my 6 MJ1200's. are they really that much more effective than MJ's to justify the price?

The difference between a tunze and a mj is night and day. There is no comparison between the two in terms of the rate and amount of flow.

If your tank is doing good with the mjs then I don't really think you need the tunze. And since you have a DSB the tunze might just turn it upside down and then you would be in real trouble. And you don't need two streams. One would be lots already especially in a corner methinks.

If your flow ain't broke don't fix it but if you're really thinking about getting the streams then go look at some in action. Feel the flow and see if your DSB can handle that flow. You'll really be amazed at how much water that thing moves.

you cant knock what you havent tried, so i recommend you do. I felt the same way at the time and purchase a pair and fell in love. It has its pros and cons but only you can decide if its worth it. IME it was worth it for me. I removed close loops, Sea swirls and high power and energy pumps. Bye your reef tank description i can fell tunzes in your future!

i think you're right. i want 1 more each day. like i said, only thing really holding me back is me worrying that it may put my RBTA on the move. i love where it's settled. F the $ thing. i'm also starting zeo next month, and by summer i really expect to start loading up on some high quality SPS frags. a tunze would help. i like the MJ 1200's but they just kinda blow straight, as oppsed to how a tunze stream blows out, up and down, right??? i'm at about 1 35X turnover now, with the stream i'll be alittle over 50 which would be sweet. actually perfect.
