mnml's rimless

do you think 792gph tunze pump is enough for a 2" drain in a 50-60 gallons sump? I can't really make up my mind between tunze and eheim because I'm planning on trying to cut down the wattage of my future tank too.

I wish I could get those square rods for the light fixtures instead of just the plain round ones. Have any idea where your fish store got them?

Thanks everyone for the support.

It may work depending on how much head you're going to have but you can contact Victor in the Tunze forum to make sure. He was able to calculate how much head loss based upon my setup.

Looking great! So what's next?

BRS dosing pumps should arrive Tuesday, just in time for Christmas :)

I got them from this store in Fountain Valley, CA called Fish Max (fishmax.com) Ask for Jose - real nice guy. They don't sell much coral at their store but they do some pretty huge tank installation. His portfolio is quite impressive.

AWESOME looking tank! looking to see what direction it takes once it starts getting populated. keep it up!

Thanks. I'm counting down the day when I'll be able to add my first SPS :lolspin:

I received my dosing pumps from Bulk Reef Supply. These are the BRS dosers that pumps ~1.1ml/min. The quality of these pumps are nice. Initial output testing is quite accurate and the pump is virtually silent.

Nice packaging

I also picked up this Linksys wireless bridge for my Apex controller. I was really surprised on how easy it was to set up and now I can access my controller from the internet

Sweet. I am running 2 BRS pumps also. Mine are the 30 ml/min version, but I just dilute my solutions to make the difference. They are the Bare Bones version BRS sells on ebay for $49.

How are you liking the APEX. I am wanting to get one next year after I do my tank upgrade.

I really like the Apex a lot. There was a bit of a learning curve compared to my RK2 but people were very helpful in their forum. I hear they're coming out with a module to control Vortechs in the next few months. That should be interesting :)

Thanks _Michael, nice of you to stop by :)

Quick update: On week 3 of my cycle and diatoms are everywhere. I got an ammonia spike a few days ago and parameters are starting to settle. I think another week or two then I'll be ready for my first fish :)

Chris, thanks for the compliment. It's good to see the updates on your tank.

I added 3 Chromis to the tank this weekend. So far they're doing great, quite active little guys.

Awesome -- nice to see livestock in there!

Over the Holiday I finally got water in my rimless build, a build thats taken almost a year to complete.

I am in water cycle mode myself. Just waiting:)

Everything is doing great in the tank so I decided to make the gang a little bigger. :bounce3:
