Hey, Just ordered a tank. 48x30x18 and a 8 bulb PM. Your tank is soooo nice I cannot wait.

What is you bulb combo right here? From page 3

What bulb positions are the 2 bulb?

Thanks
Kc3

WOW mnml! Your tank is stunning! Love your fish choices! Theres something about a rimless tank that literally looks like a block of the ocean sitting in your home.

You may want to put a screen on tank. You don't want any carpet surfers. Agentsps has a nice design using deer netting on his rimless. Good luck. Nice looking tank.

Hi Kc3,

Congrats on the new tank. You're gonna love it!

That particular combo was:

blue+
ge 6500k
blue+
uvl white actinic
blue+
ati pro color
blue+
blue+

The 2 bulb were #3 and #6. My bulb combo now is different. I've found that all my corals were getting bleached out even with the fixture being 8" above the water line and a photo period of 7 hours total. The output on the PM is quite intense.

I spoke with Ali at Amazing Reefs and he recommended I use the same combo he uses in in store. So now I'm on my 5th combo change since I started my tank :beachbum: but am very happy with the results.

blue+
blue+
blue+
wave point coral wave
blue+
aquablue special

blue+

Bulbs 1,2,4,5,7,8 are on for 7 hours (2pm - 9pm) and bulbs 3,6 are on for 3 hours (4pm - 7pm).

At first, I was thinking this combo would be way too blue but it actually gives a very nice spectrum. Not too blue and not too white. I've been running this for 2 weeks now and already my Forest Fire digita is starting to color up. I've never heard of the Wave Point Coral Wave bulb but so far it's doing well. I still have my Fiji Purple as a backup though. :)

Thanks for the kind words, jbird69. I'm diggin' your set up as well.

Tank looks great Tran!

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the compliment. How's your new tank coming along?

You may want to put a screen on tank. You don't want any carpet surfers. Agentsps has a nice design using deer netting on his rimless. Good luck. Nice looking tank.

Thanks for the advice rholguin. I may have to get one. A friend of mine, Robojet, has offered to build me one but I've been lazy getting her the netting material. :o

Any pics of the new bulb combo.

Here you go. This is with the 6 bulbs on. I'll take another when the white and other blue bulb come on. My camera doesn't capture the true color but it's close.

Lazy is right! I finished my screen top... ready to work on yours... whenever you're ready!

Maybe next weekend, the netting is hiding somewhere in my garage.

Its coming along slowly, but surely. the DIY stand im building is 90% completed. Should be up with H2O within the next few weeks :)

Sweet! Your tank should be cycle right around the time MAX comes to town.

I'm really digging this thread. Congrats on an inspiring build!

Thank you, nice of you to stop by.

I picked up this really cool looking Australian Blasto today. It hasn't fully opened yet but I love the colors on this one.

Your blasto is insane:spin1::spin1::spin1::spin1:
If you are missing your blasto and your xmas wrasse, I didn't take it:fun5::fun5::fun5::fun5::fun5:

Looks like you're pretty well stocked on SPS stuff. Are you just going to wait for growth or do you have any current livestock plans?

LOL I may want to put a lock on my screen netting once I get it made. :eek1:

I'm going to wait for growth at this point. However, I figure I have enough room for about 7 SPS pieces and about 4-6 acans frags then I'm good to go. I'm going to be traveling a lot for work in the next two months so I don't plan on getting anything until I return.

In the meantime, I just started my VSV dosing and will concentrate on that to how things go.

I have 6 bulbs on from 2pm - 9pm, and the other 2 on from 4pm - 7pm. Eventually I will ramp up to 6 bulbs on from 12pm - 9pm, and the other 2 on from 3pm - 7pm.

BTW, here's a pic of all 8 bulbs on.
