Monolith

You'd want to hope so haha it's a serious piece of kit there!! The tank definitely looks like it's working though :lolspin:

Stunning! I love the rockwork and the way the corals have grown in and around it :)

Thanks Wrangy.

I'm still moving and changing the rockwork every week.
If everything goes right in 3 or 4 years I'll be completelly happy with it.
And then will be the time to start a new tank! :hmm4:

I had 2 Ca Reactors before this....leaking, CO2 filling the chamber and Alk spikes.....That's what I get from them. :headwally:

The most important for me in this Octopus is the capacity that it has to keep the Alk rock stable.
Plus, due to the size of chambers and the recirculating CO2 system, the maintenance is almost none.
I refill the first chamber with media every 4~5 months....
And refill the 13 kg CO2 tank every 10~12 months.
More free time.....

Photos from last month.....with the water a little cloud due to some layout changes.
Since the beginning the front island bothered me....it was.....too high.
So I broke the 3 "foots" and bring it down 4~5".

The clown's house was moved to another place, giving it more visibility:

Here the rock with the tortuosa turquoise was moved against the back panel, were the frogs/hammers were before.
It opens a lot of space between the front and the back formations. Something that I intend since the start.

fantastic!!! how does the clown tang and the powder blue get along?

Beautiful!!
Are you still running the tank without dosing or n and p control?
the tank looks great!!
I really like the scape as well
Did you notice any major changes when you stopped trying to manipulate the tank?
How many fish, how much do you feed and how many gallons is the new tank?

Thanks Matt.
Never measured No or Po on this tank since the start...probably never will, unless some big issue happens.
I'm still not dosing anything, no GAC, no GFO, no Carbon or bacteria dosing...
The major change that I saw was a reduction on hair algae and some improvement on sps colors and growth rate.
Plus my zoas returned from the dead.
I have 7 big fishes and 12 medium/small. I'll put a list with photos later.
I feed them dry food (2x on autofeeder), blood worms, artemias, shrimp/salmon cubes (1 of each), and nori everyday.
They're fat so..........they're happy....:D

thanks Alex, such a gentleman, love how we all find inspiration and motivation from each other.

fantastic!!! how does the clown tang and the powder blue get along?

The Powder Blue came first....in the middle of 2010.
The Clown arrives only in the end of 2012. It was 3" long and I kept it for 4 months or so on the frag tank, with the Cooperband.
After that I put the 2 new fishes on the display tank with the lights turned off.
The Powder Blue tried to chase the Clown, but it was smaller and very much faster...
Since then the Clown is getting bigger and bigger. Nowadays the both has almost the same size.
There always is some "tension" in the air (or in the water)....but no aggression.

Fishy, fishy, fishy!!!

Some of the following photos were taken on my previous tank, but as they show fishes that are with me nowadays, I'll show them here.

The trio. With me since 2009.

Besides that:

A pair of orange skunk clowns
A pair of green chromis dansels

Nice shots!
So, you have a powder blue, powder brown AND a clown tang!
Wow!

Not a Powder Brown Matt......A Gold Rim tang...
The problem is that the fish, even being smaller than the other two, is very aggressive towards them.
So I had to remove it and put it in the frag tang....Maybe I'll return it to display....maybe I'll sell it....don't decide yet....:sad1:

Photos from September-01.
Water not so cloudy anymore and things continuing get better.
My zoas, after a looooong time, starts to thrive again! :bounce3::bounce3::bounce3:

Next week I'll do another major change in layout. My colony of Montipora Capricornis wil be removed and a quarter of the tank will be rearranged...
Marine reefer, the being that simply couldn't be happy...
