selling system

Hi again,

No, we aren't scared away.......yet :)

We are still looking to sell the entire system (have a couple of bites), but if that doesn't pan out - we'll be looking to part it out next weekend some time.

Jane

Good Luck with the sale.

Hope Im still in line for some live stock and RO/DI if it doesnt pull through.

Just a word folks - keep it civil.

The initial request for pics was fine, but the explanation might have been a bit over-the-top (not necessarily bad, but using the term "scam" might be inflammatory).

The ensuing argument and "in your face" nature of some of the posts was, however, way over the line.

If you are the type of person who would get up in somone's face like that in public, face-to-face, then perhaps you need some interpersonal skills counseling. However, if as a I suspect, people are being bullies in this forum because they feel braver (or more rude) sitting behind a computer screen, it needs to stop.

If it doesn't, one of two things will hapeen. A whole bunch of people are going to lose their posting privileges, or this forum will be closed. Honestly, it could go either way very easily.

Kevin,

It's called an E-Thug... Hated across many parts of the internet, not just here.

I hope these few people don't represent the majority. Do they?

I personally think the MODS should do what they have been entitled to do.. and disable peoples access to the forums in general. Make an example out of these people instead of closing posts. It seems there are a few people that seem to have nothing else to say but negative. Letââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s focus on them, and hopefully the problem will disappear.

Would you like to keep a troublesome employee around just to ensure your own job security? This is basically what is going on here, and it is sadââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦. :-(

If infact you are Moderators please enforce a few guidelines to make sure we donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have trolls sitting out there waiting to see a rules violation, and then go off in a thread.

Minimum posts before a ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œFor Saleââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ thread will be a start.

I agree with you, but there seems to be a mssing link from the gudlines and those who enforce it...

Now I am rambling. Hope I havenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t hurt anyoneââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s feelings.

Let me step in here since I made the initial comment.

First let me start by apologizing to Jane. It was not my intention to imply your thread was a scam and I was later told by others that your intentions were indeed legitimate.

Many of us in the forum have seen some real shady stuff go down lately. When myself and others see new members who have never posted before suddenly selling everything it naturally raises a flag.

My intention was not to police this forum but to inquire for more details. In fact if you ask most Mods they will tell you that they don't want to police these forums either. I personally believe it is in the best interest of this forum for the regulars to be inquisitive and watch each other's backs. It's the only way this forum is going to survive all the deadbeats looking to abuse it. If we leave this forum to the Mods to constantly monitor then as they've stated in the past, it will simply be shut down.

One last thing and I'll leave it alone... those who state that I am in the same group or level as anyone else is completely off base, especially if you don't know me. Those that DO know me know that I don't exchange insults or engage in silly bickering. I'm here for the hobby and the meaningful exchange of ideas that helps this hobby thrive.

Jane, I wish you all the best with your sale and I'm sorry to see another reefer leaving. Hope you can return to the hobby soon after your move.

- Ken

A few thoughts - ensuring job security? Not hardly! We do enforce guidelines - and immediately get called every kind of communist/fascist/anti-american/unpatriotic name you can think of for "violating" the person's "right" to free speech (which doesn't actually exist here, since this is a privately-owned forum).

It's always a balance between allowing people to express their opinions and keeping the insults and unnecessary bullying to a minimum.

Also, keep in mind that we average about 1800 people on line at all times of the day, and many thousands of posts. We just don't see them all, so "moderating" them can be a challenge.

Finally, we have the 50 post minimum in the sales and trading forums. We don't have it in the club forums (otherwise peopel new to the hobby wouldn't be able to post in the club forums).

If perception is reality, then perhaps you are correct. However, my perception is completely different. As I said above, we (Staff and Mods as a group) are continually insulted and 'taken to task" for being "heavy handed" and making uninformed, unilateral decisions based upon bias and personal friendships or animosity. In actuality, we discuss nearly all actions taken BEFOREHAND. It's always interesting to read from a member who has in someway been "disciplined" how it was all about personal animosity, or how they generally mis-represent the communications they have had with the mods and/or staff... when I have already read what the communications were. We don't discuss the issues in public for the most part, but boy, there are times when I would certainly like to! Just once it would be nice to be unprofessional and copy EXACTLY what had happened between the involved parties and send the complainer hoime with his/her tail between his/her legs!

Kevin

I personally think that the mods here are doing a great job keeping everyone in line. I think they are very fair and unbiased. They take the time to explain things. Like Anemone said, this is a privately owned forum. Don't go on this privately owned forum and disrespect their rules. Think about what happened when a moron (Michael Peter Fay) went to someone elses land and disrespect their rules.

Michael Peter Fay, the kid who was caned in Singapore for vandalism? Not sure I'd make that same comparison, but I have to give you a hand for pulling that 12 year old forgotten tidbit out of your hat.

Anyway Jane, please take your thread back and tell us how your moving sale is doing. Hoping you get a buyer for the whole thing but if not there are plenty of us chompin at the bit if you part things out.
