It wont be hard to clean the acrylic at all. The tank is getting a Magnavore 10 magnet. Coraline algae wont stand a chance with that magnet lol.
I have to say from my own personal experience the single best thing I ever bought for my own fish tank was a Magnavore magnet. All my life I bought the cheaper magnets like Magfloats. I would scrub and scrub. I never knew how much better a quality magnet was at cleaning until I got one. Man what a difference! My tank has so much light I have to clean the glass every day. With the Magnavore my tank sparkles in no time. I kinda got my Magnavore by luck. About 10 years ago I made/invented acrylic mods for Magfloats that attached razorblades to them. Well I let a friend barrow it for his tank and he liked it so much he wanted to keep it. Well razorblades don't mix well with silicone and over time you most likely will damage your seams. So I went to a LFS and they told me they like the Magnavore, I tried it and love it.
Magnavore
I should get paid for this kind of advertisement lol, but seriously it works great.
Although magnavores are very good for small and medium sized aquariums, that magnet will be very weak for that thick of acryllic. I would use this instead http://www.mightymagnets.com/store.htm. They are much better for tanks of this size.
For the rockwork I would highly recommend using z spar two part epoxy (available at boating supply stores and online) to attach rocks. This will make for a much stronger/permanent hold of the rockwork and allow you to cut away the zip ties. It is much stronger and stickier than the junk they sell at pet stores.
Also, whoever says that they should use a needlewheel skimmer instead of an etss probably has never used both. Etss brand skimmers are extremely effective skimmers (as effective as very expensive recirculating needlewheels) and are built very well. They also have the advantage of processing a larger volume of water which may be helpful in gas exchange. The only downside is the pump size required to run these things.
