Just talked to Andy, that was quick service. Andy said the same thing can happen sometimes. He's sending me a new piece to just incase thats not the problem. Great service. thanx all, I'll see what this does for me...........
If anyone cares about my problem on the last page....
I just talked to Andy and he said to just run a 1" piece of PVC pipe thru the top of the Beckett housing and glue it into the gray piece that's already attached.
Then just glue the 1" straight in piece on.
It sounds crazy but I'll post pics when I do it. I am sure this will increase the skimmers performance.
I also told him about an issue I was having with the water in the skimmer going down, and coming back up flooding the cup every so often.
He thinks my output pipe is too far under water and it creates back pressure.
I was told to use a 45 on the output (after the siphon break) instead of a 90.
Well, I am pretty excited as I am almost there. After nearly 3 months, I think I will be starting the cycle by the end of this week, if not sooner! At least I hope!
Anyway, I roughed in my plumbing work and took a couple of shots to see what you thought about it. Any problems or improvements that I can do? I figure I would ask now while I can still take things apart!
Particulars:
75g RR
Mag 9.5 return
MRC - MR1 with Gen-X PCX 30
20g long for the sump.
I'm no expert here, but it appears that the gate valve, IE drain from your skimmer will be below the water level in the sump. If this is the case, you will need to add a T in order to vent the drain and remove the back pressure, or raise the skimmer in the sump. I think every thing else looked ok...
wrz0170 looks to me like u have ur gate valve is to close to the sump glass & thats going to create back pressure inside ur skimmer, u should turn it sideways & use a T on the end so u dont get back pressure, when u get to much back pressure ur skimmer water goes up & down & thats not good.
wrz, I run my MR-1 in sump and the output is submerged about 1-3" and is about 3" away from the wall. There is no 'T' on it and I have no problems, water does not fluctuate at all. All distances are approx. I can get more exact measurements later on, but you'll have to wait till after Game 3 of the WS. GO SOX!!!!
man, steve how did you were able to put the 90 just like that
but as always I can work around, so the way I did mine was to use a piece of pipe 1.5" and made a ring, to grab the bulk head and be inserted into the 90, working like a champ
without the riser the mod, made the skimmer top level to violent, now its nice and calm
I hear a neoprene mouse pad works well for the vibration. I put mine on towels and it does a good job for now. I will be doing something a little more permanent when I get back from Vacation.
As far as this hiss I have no clue. I wish there was a way to get air in there like the cotton ball was out, only without the extremely loud hissing sound.
With the cotton ball in there it doesn't seem so bad, but I'm sure it could be made quieter.
