MSX skimmer club

We have had our 200 for about 2 yrs ( maybe more) we have never had one single problem with it. 2 days ago my husband went downstairs and it had been overflowing onto the floor, with just bubbles, he took the whole thing apart and cleaned it and it is still just filling the cup with bubbles and not producing anything. He tried to adjust it and no luck. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

After recently adding red devil pinwheels to my 250 I decided I needed to rethink my skimmer drain plumbing. I ended up using the wedge pipe below the exit "T" and the shorter pipe above it. This brought the "T" higher and allows me to run the skimmer almost fully open, whereas before the wedge pipe was almost totally in the closed position. Has anyone else tried this before?

i have been using my msx200 for a few years, no real problems. Its been sitting for a month or so, and I just moved it over to my new tank. It is so loud I can run it. It also has problems starting. The noise is like a loud vibration hum, but I can get rid of it, even if I hold the skimmer in mid water. I don't see any wear on any parts. Any ideas? I have an upgraded pinwheel- I forget which one or where i got it- it is white.

I took it apart again and here is a pic of my carbon fiber impeller shaft. Any idea what would cause this? I see no further damage to the pump parts. I plan replace the shaft and the boot at the end. Any other advise?

Ok so im looking to get a Xtreme 350 Protein Skimmer, but im not really sure what site to get it from? On all the sites ive found they are all the same price, im just wondering who has bought there skimmers for what sites? I would rather have a more trust worth site with a good review. Any suggestions? the 2 sites ive found are saltwaterconnection.com and swcskimmers.com and others?

a quick search shows that TBAquatics sells SWC line, I dont see the 350 but i'm sure a phone call could purchase one. He has a Retail storefront here in NJ that many members of NJReefers Club frequent and has always had great Cust. Service

Also saltwaterconnection is the Canadian manufacturer of these skimmers but shipping is a little higher and I can only guess you would have to deal with customs.

crooks why would you go with the 300a from reeffiltration? and looking it up im only pulling up a www.shop. reeffiltration.com so im guessing that is the same site that you are talking about?

I have bought a skimmer from Luke at reeffiltration before and I am about to do it again. He has great communication and good products.

I have a swc300 with dual sicce pumps and a swc300a with the askool pump. I like the askoll much more and the performance is better. The sicce pumps are older technology and that's why most of swc new swimmers have a different pump. The octopus extreme simmer used to be almost the same design they also moved on to a different pump. I am not saying they won't work or skim just I like other pumps better.

What size is your tank?

my tank is really a full system tank vs just one tank lol, it is a 300g DD, a 30g frag, and a 150g rubermaid horse trough thing lol. So the whole system is about 450-480 gallons, or somewhere in that range.

I have a Xtreme 250 with two Sicce pumps. I either need two new impellers or two new pumps. (Or one new pump?)

Can anyone recommend what is the best setup for this skimmer?

i swapped my sicce for the bubble blaster and never looked back. the BB was a MUCH better pump imo, never failed to start and rocked the msx

One pump is plenty with the 250 and the BB 5000. I have had my swc 250 with BB 5000 for almost 2.5 yrs without a problem.

I'm sure this has been asked in 65 pages but, here goes anyway. Would the SWC 250a cone be too much skimmer for a medium stocked SPS 180 gallon tank? I may be upgrading tanks soon and looking at this skimmer.

Thanks, Dave
