Mushroom Propagation?

I am curious from another thread I read somewhere else, do mushroom really split/propogate by leaving a leg behind and moving to a different location? I also remember hearing some people even slice them across the mouth. Wouldn't this hurt or even kill the poor guy? :eek1:

Many do split by leaving behind a piece of foot. You can cut them with a razor, too, with little to no ill effects.

Mine alway multiply by moving towards the light or a better location leaving babies behind. Gotta say I have never seen any of mine split . My ricordia have though.
If your shrooms are doing well you will see it soon enough!

Thanks for the replies, I saw my friends tank with almost all the LR covered with mushrooms and it looks sweet. He only set it up about 1-1/2yrs ago with a few handfulls placed throughout te tank and they've multiplied all-over. I just bought a handfull of reds and hope they multiply too, LOL...
