Such nice growth patterns and rich, deep colors from your acros. Well done!
Thanks Matt! Your system is filling up quickly! and the colors that your getting are very nice also!
I think you tank is amazing and I am would like to learn more about your set up. I see your sump is very simple. Is your means of nutrient export totally by means of protein skimming? Also are you feeding your Sps and what are you dosing? Your Sps have lots of color and growth can you elaborate on your water parameters and husbandries.
I am very impressed.
Also what is your lighting schedule like?
Thanks trueblackpercula!!! I will try to answer all your question to the best I can!
As per nutrient export in the system, the primary means is the skimmer, then currently bi-weekly water change of 15 to 20 gallon, and 4ml vodka is also added to the system daily as well as 4ml of coral snow "“ as far as I know this one only helps the skimmer pull out more gunk in the system.
As I've been running a fairly low nutrient system I can see that some of the SPS are not a vibrant as I want them, in turn I add about ½ tbs of NutraPlus Complete feed by Nutra-Kol twice a week. As far as dosing above and beyond the vodka and the corals snow that is added daily the only other think that is added to the system is BRS CA & ALK at a rate of 40ml 4 times daily for a total of 160ml of each element, 1 cup of magnesium chloride is added to the freshly fixed salt water prior to the water change.
As far as water parameters currently level are as follows CA-450; ALK-7.5 to 8.5; MAG-1400; salinity-1.0250; PH-7.9 to 8.2; ORP-425; Temp-76.5F to 78.5F; PO4-0.025; NO3-undetectable (however I know that I have them in the system as I have some algae's in the system). ALK and PO4 readings are taken with Hanna digital; Temp, PH and ORP reading are via RKL, CA, MAG and NO3 are with ELOS test kit.
As per lighting schedule 6 T5's are open for a total of 7 hours, 4 T5's are on for a total of 11 hours and I also run 2 RB all blues for 4 hours before and after the 6 T5's. Current am using 2 ATI Blue+; 2 ATI Coral+ and 2 ATI Actinic.
Hopefully I've answer most of your question, if there is anything else you would like to know just ask away!
Stunning tank. I love the cleanliness of the aquarium, the substrate and the beautiful aquascape that pulls it all together.
Great job all around.
I really wish I had a good spot in my house to set up a 6 foot peninsula. The layout isn't great for a nice big show tank. No great spot for an in-wall, no great spot for a peninsula (that my wife will allow it anyway lol )
Thanks Tyler! Am just glad that it all came in together!
Funny that you say that about not having any space in the house, if you can only see how small my place is, when I told the wife that I was going to put this in the house her first question is where????? lol!!!
This tank is pure elegance ....
Updated sump, filtration info would always be appreciated
Thanks for the kind words bello!
I will post a sump photo update shortly. As far as filtration all I have in the system right now is just the skimmer, filter sock, carbon and GFO have all been pulled out of the system over 6 months ago as a test to see if the color of the system would improve, and it has.
