My 110 Gallon Peninsula Reef Tank

Thank you, yes i find your answer #450 :-) sorry. I was wondering how you are keeping this wonderful garden under just 324 watts. But i found that there is additional 90 watts LED lights. So - 415 watts on 415 litters

Glad that you found what your looking for. I would actually say that at peak I am only running 324 watts.

Thank you for the clarification. Did you try full power? What are your concerns - too much light or vision is not good enough?

Need more pics :-)

Sure thing Ryan, I'll post more photos soon!!!!!

Your welcome! I have tried full power, there is actually no concern running full power in the system I also don't think there is any benefits to it.

The one concern that I had was sometime in August/September I needed to replace the bulb (annual maintenance) I wanted to play with the the bulb combo, I've always liked the "actinic" look however I was worried that If I only run two white and two blue I might loose some color, well so far so good! all the colors of the corals are intact, not a single one browned out or lost any color! So if your really think about it the system is theoretically running with just 4 bulbs.

One of this days I will break out the par meter and see how much par those actinic actually does add to the system.

Very nice setup. It's great seeing tanks with t5/led. I've been running that setup for almost 2 years and it's worked great for me. I'm in the process of upgrading tanks, and I will be running a similar setup. 6-80w t5s and 150-3w DIY LEDs. (My tank is 8', so I added a couple more LEDs then u lol )

Thanks for taking the time to share all ur amazing pics with us.

SchnitzelReef - Thanks for taking the time to view and comment on the thread.

Coming from a MH setup it took some time to get the corals to acclimate to the T5/LED combo. On a side note I like your ATI T5/LED conversion, this is something that am looking in to doing with my own light fixture. I think it will be cleaner than my current setup with 2 Reefbrite - one on each side.

I just found this thread. Great lookin tank! So do you feel like you are getting enough PAR with the addition of the 2 actinic bulbs? Can you post a pic of the whole tank with all lights on? Thanks.

bump for a much needed UPDATE

Ian! Everyone is waiting for an update of your awesome tank!!!

Yes, what's new Ian?

Any update?

Certainly would be nice to see a update. :)

Ian, hope all is well. You've been MIA for a while. Would love to see an update of your tank.

Thanks DragonWarriorPo! I think the corals where getting sufficient par as far as i'm concern with the 2 actinics, however i've since replaced this two bulbs with blue plus temporarily. Will try to get a FTS with all the lights on....

Nice camera work. I wish I had a third of your talent with the camera.

Thank PanicBuyer! funny I was just lookin at someone's photos and said the same thing.....

Beautiful tank bro

Thanks gdlife!!!

sorry about the lack of update folks..... so as it stand the system is still somewhat running.....

just a quick recap on how the system have been doing, from mid spring to end of summer I was running the system with 4 T5 bulbs only, this was due to one of the ballast on the fixture broke and I just got complacent changing the ballast. The effect on the system was minor color lost most noticeable on the Tyree pink lemonade. In the beginning of the year i've also upgrade the skimmer from Skimz 201 to BK mini 200 however mid summer the pump on the skimmer died and i've since then change the skimmer to the Vertex Omega 180 so far so good!!!

here are some photos to get the thread back on track!
