my 120

Also, any experience with good, QUIET fans?
And how about leaving the back open, or the top open (except for a center 2x4 to mount the halides???

i would deff leave the top as open as possible. quite fans i'll give you a link from new egg.

I picked up 2 3 inch fans from Unicorn Electronics over by the mall - had them over my 125 when i had it - they were pretty quiet.

adam have you been to nates?? these are the ones he uses, they are silent..plus you dont need to run them full out and only have to use 1 12v powersupply to run to fans because they dont need to run full out. but any who i would go with the second one you posted cause it is fluid bearings, the sleeve bearings are louder.

ok, nates are nearly silent. I don't know what you mean by run them full out??? these arent adjustable are they??

there a dc motor any dc motor is adjustable. all you have to do is put less voltage or amperage to them. hence useing one 12v dc powersupply to run 2. it is just what i am doing, if you dont feel comfortable doing so just run the second one that you liked. but dont order yet cause we can split shipping 3 ways with the zoo. ill try and find the ones for the zoo tonight and let you know what i have come up with.

just thought about it and i know someone is going to jump on it so here is my edit [most DC motors {not all} can be veryed to an extent by giving it more or less voltage and/or amperage with the the more or less voltage.]

The more fins the quieter the fan and better flow at low speeds hence quieter. Most DC motors are variable you will need a DC adjustable pot. Check specs on them.

aighty i am prolly goin to order tomorrow. if you need anything else from that site let me know before 10ish tomorrow.

Update:
Doors & Canopy (open top and partial back)- done. Lights installed (no fans yet), and phase 1 of the tranfer is complete (all softies moved over from the 37). All corals are happy and open, including the few SPS I've moved. Now for the pics:

Whole tank open with atinics only (2x55) ( left bulb brand new, right over 1+ yrs old, makes a huge difference. Right is only temporary until I can steal a new one from the 37)

oh, and any suggestions on how to light acclimate?
Use a normal lighting cycle and just keep everything on the bottom and move up slowly?
Use a normal lighting cycle and just use the screen method? Normal placement for this??
No screen but start at 1hr halides per day and slowly increase that?
Thanks,
Adam

Nice Adam!! Id keep everything on the bottom and start with a short photo period. Slowly increase the time and then slowly move things around. Thats a deep tank. There is a large fall off in par the deeper you go. Things on the bottom should be no problem at all. The real truth is in your coral tho. They will tell faster than anything else if they like the light or not. Ive never worried about any coral ive ever put in my tank. I always put them on the bottom first and if they looked ok id move them higher.
