my 120

Thanks guys, after I took these pics I switched from xm10ks to hamilton 14Ks, so we'll see how that works out for me.

Absolutely awesome Adam!! TTOM material IMO. You and Nate currently have the premier reefs in the tri-cities. Mine unfortunately has fallen from grace since moving. After my next move in October I hope to get my tank back to its former glory. Keep it up Adam. I'll have to get over there for an inspirational visit.

Some updates after getting my nitrates under control and running 14K hamiltons now for over a month

Great reef progression! I am thinking about getting a few Blue Reef Chromis for my 75 gallon newbie start up and was wondering what your experience with that fish is. Did the Blue Reef "thin the herd" a bit? Is it really well on its way to becoming 5" long (LA states this is the max size)?

I was looking at getting a small school of them.

Many Thanks!

Thanks Jerry,
dg3147 I've actually only ever had the one blue reef chromis, but have had it for 2 years now. He was a little aggressive toward my regular chromis when I had them, but not too bad. He's been this size 3.5" for over a year, so I dont think he'll get much bigger.
I think a school would be sweet, I like them way better than any other chromis. I saw schools of them swimming when we went snokeling in jamaica

Adam, this is the first time that i've looked through your thread. BLOWN AWAY!!!! That tank is completely amazing! I can't believe how full it is, and how many different corals you have. I agree with the earlier statement that this tank could deffinately become a TOTM. I wish I lived a little closer to Endicott so I could check that beauty out in person sometime. Very nice job!

I think it's time for a 180 Adam.....at least! Caps can be awesome, but they take up a lot of realestate and light. That tank is awesome. I love the encrusters on the overflow and back glass.

Yeah, I still kept small peices to regrow, but they were just getting out of hand, and blocking light/flow. Unfortunately no bigger tank until I get a bigger house. Just have to keep evicting my least favorites.

with a tank like that, your least favorites could very well be someone else's favorites. One man's garbage......

Perhaps a larger frag set up then? Check w/ABC in syr if you ever come up, they might give you some credit. Even if it gets you a bucket of salt it beats tossing stuff.

Yeah, I had a frag setup once, but it was too painful to keep two setups... It would be much simpler with a basement sump to plumb off of, but with the main tank self contained in the living room, it's pretty tough.
Normally I do try to help out the local reefers or trade for credit (although local stores can't keep SPS), but the area's reefing crowd is dwindling, and I unfortunately keep missing swaps. I'll check with ABC next time I head up. I usually just "suffer" with stuff in the main tank until I find takers.
