My 280g Custom upgrade.....

Returned home from vacation yesterday to find my tank in great shape....glass needs to be cleaned but otherwise everyone is accounted for.

Now for some news that may bring this build to an end....My wife and I have decided that we are tired of the high cost of living in NJ and would like to move to SC where my sister lives. She's right outside of Charleston in a town called Mt. Pleasant. We are in the early stages of researching everything and I need to clear a few things with my job before we can take this to the next step. So for the next few weeks there won't be any new additions to tank since if this goes thru I will just have to sell off the live stock. If we do make the move I will sell the tank, stand and sump here in NJ and keep the rest of the equipment for the next tank down in SC. It would figure that this would come up just as I got the tank back on track but this just means I get to plan for another new tank and go bigger again :)

Steve,
I wish you all the best man!

Thanks guys! A few things have to fall in place first.....job and what I can sell my house for. Most of my interactions with my clients is over the phone and I see them 1 maybe 2 times a yr. I will continue to maintain the tank this way if things don't work out I can go back to adding corals.

I don't know how to respond...Good Luck?!

:eek1::eek1::eek1:

Lol thanks Dustin. There will be a significant savings in my monthly mortgage and property taxes so its actually a good thing because it will allow more spending on my tank!!!! My wife already asked me if the reason I want to move is so I can get a bigger tank and have more money to spend on fish and coral.....lol.

I've already started looking around for local shops and tank builders in that area.

Yeah, I'd imagine that utilities in SC are much cheaper than in NJ too.

Hey Steve sorry to see you go, but best of luck making the move happen. I tried to convince my wife for years to go south to Florida. Now that we have little kids and I'm established in my company she brings it up every winter. One day...

Hey Mike....I've been lightly dropping hints for the last 6 months. During our recent visit she said that she's ready.

That's great that your wife can be close to her family.

Why not take your tank with you?[/QUOTE

I thought about that but we will probably look to buy an empty lot and build a home. We would initially rent something while the house is being built and figured the transportation and storage fees would just make it not worth it.

All the best Steve!

Thanks Lucas!

Steve,

That will be a nice change of pace. Been following your build for a while.

A 120x36x24 would be fun.

That would definitely be a lot of fun!!!!

Say it ain't so??? I thought there was a rule or something that says you have to forfeit your first born if you shut down a reef tank in the middle of build thread on RC...at least a 30 day ban or something?

I say we stop by the Elos store and grab a system 70 to hold you over until the house is finished. Reef withdrawals can get ugly.;)

Charleston is beautiful, about 3.5 hours from here. We used to go for weekends before the little one was born. Congrats on whatever you decide, I moved from the northeast to Charlotte in 98 love the southeast.

Steve,

My sister really likes it down there and NJ has changed so much over the recent years. Taxes are out of control.

Tomorrow will give us some indications of whether or not this can really happen. Our realtor is coming by to look at our house and I will be meeting with my manager. These are two key factors in the decision.
