I received my new Ocean Motions drum. The drum has 2 holes on opposite sides. The old drum was defective. It was to tight and it stuck all of the times I tried to use it.This one work fine.I do say the flow is pretty good considering that it splits into two 1" outlets and some of my outlets are split into 2 outlets.I am happy with it I should have maybe gone with a single hole to get more flow or a stronger pump.I do see stuff in the water moving up towards the overflow witch is what I want.

Steve,

Where did you find grey schedule 40 plumbing? I've been looking for weeks. I priced out schedule 80 and it's just ridiculous. If I go with white schedule 40 I'll want to paint it, which will take a lot of time and be a big pain. Do you know of any websites where I could order grey schedule 40? Or do you know of any stores in the Los Angeles area that might carry it? This would be a great help. My prject is on hold till I figure this out. Thanks!

Chad

I got all my plumbing parts from my supplier here in Canada.I don't know where to get them in the States. You don't need schedule 80.Its thicker pipe but the inside diameter is smaller. It comes in white or grey. Most of the pool companies have white but they don't carry 1" fittings. They also don't carry spaflex.

thechad21 - any luck with the grey schedule 40?

When I started my plumbing I looked @ both as well and couldn't justify the 80 or its limitations. I do like the grey look but schedule 80 will cost more and less efficient from what I could gathered unless there are valid reasons for the thicker walls.

I ordered my lights they are being built as we type(so to speak) I also should be getting my skimmer very soon.I would think I should have both within 2 weeks.I will have to drive to NY to get them.I am shipping it to my cousins house.

OK my lights will be done tomorrow and my skimmer is finished.I can tell you the skimmer looks awesome from the pics he showed me.I don't want to post them as of yet because I want to see it in person.I was hoping my sister would bring it back for me this weekend but she asked me not to make her bring back any fish stuff.I will have to make a trip up to my cousin's house. The stuff is also pretty big.

My sister is going there this weekend so it would have been nice for her to deliver it to me.My skimmer guy e-mailed me some pics of the skimmer and it looks very nice. Its a dart NW skimmer with a drain plug and a twist off neck. You can take the neck off and reach all the way down to the bottom of the skimmer if you need to clean it.I can't wait to get the skimmer.I think it will be an overkill for now since there isn't any livestock in the tank.

I spoke with my skimmer guy and the skimmer will be shipped this week.My lights will be shipped this week also.I will pick them up next weekend if everything has arrived. The skimmer may take a few days more since it has to be boxed and its big.I will get some pics of the skimmer in a day or two.I will post them.

Looks like your tank is cycling nicely.

That skimmer looks nice. What's the height on that thing? I assume its externally feed and it's recirculating.

Its a good 42 " I think. It is a recirculating model. It has a drain plug at the bottom if you want to empty the skimmer and clean it.The neck is 6.1" with a twist lock so there is no bolts or screws to remove. It is a wet neck so the water stays in the riser tube(or recirculates) and the skimmer is using a dart NW pump.I will take pics when I get it.It should arrive at my cousins in New York by next weekend.I will have to drive there to pick it up.My lights are also ready and will arrive there this week. The wet neck is in the cup or in between so its hard to see.I was told I can run it with or without using the wet neck. The water is controlled via a ball valve.
