My 500G Osama Reef-2

My Installer is a NO show

My Installer is a NO show

My Contractor Installer Designer Buyer of all components that he recommended for my expensive system/setup has not shown up to continue with the work since the last week in January. He has yet to replace the power supply for the pump that failed, the light fixture that he said he will have replaced, fix the skimmer that leaks at the gaskets, the CR that seeps, work on eliminating the bubbles and on insuring that the sump can hold the water needed in case of a power failure, finish the racks for the frags tank...
Has yet to install the doser pump, setup a reliable ATO system, extend the water return piping, hang and stop the leaks from the RO/DI unit, repair the walls and ceiling that he had to open to do the install, complete the finish framing of the tank and doors below the tank on both sides, install the exhaust and intake system, hookup the internet wiring to the APEX system. Move the 65g tank in place, finish framing the closet, repair the ceilings he busted and paint and epoxy all and etcccc.
What finally/really got to me more than anything else, is him not caring, when I told him that my wife was coming home from a double knee replacement surgery and I pleaded for him to come and close up the wall he opened up because she needed to sleep on the ground floor in that FR but he could not come...
We are patiently waiting for him to cure whatever is ailing him or whatever other business is keeping him from finishing our work.We agreed on this project back in early June or thereabouts... I liked and respected this guy and his work but he has let us down big time!!! He said he was coming on April 8th, he was a no show and did not call to apologize and says that he forgot to call us that he was not coming. He then was to come this Tu but he emailed me on Monday that he "have to postpone tuesday, still having issues, sorry " and so he did not make it today Tuesday the eight of April. I am a bit upset!!! having my home partially in shambles for a project that was to be completed in two three months MAX.. we are now over nine ten month since first payment was made. Was hoping that contracting the work will get me a nice job done in a timely manner... Sorry to dump on U all...

I'm so sorry to hear about your installer. I remember you writing earlier how much trusted him. Do you think it's time to make a change?

Osama I am so sorry to hear about all of this! Do you have any other installers or lfs you can call to see if they will complete the work? How long did glass cages extend the warranty on the tank for? Have you been in touch with them about the voids?

Man that is so wrong. It almost sounds like he just took your money and ran. Not cool at all. Hope he either gets his stuff straight or you find someone reliable to finish it and demand some form of a partial refund.

Thanks to ALL for your kind support Wayne Steve and Ace. Extremely disappointed in someone I trusted who did right by me in the past installing my 320 setup with reliable top quality name products and no single leak in equipment or plumbing. No equipment failure for over five years. Contrary to what is happening this time. I am going to see how things evolve over this month and then decide on next action. He has collected over 83% of his contract, I am hoping that he values his reputation and will finish the job and correct all deficiencies. I still believe he will (I still am an ultimate optimist)!!! My mistake for overpaying early!! Live & learn, at 70 years of age you would think I have had enough learning. Regarding the extended warranty on the tank I think we got three month more through March or April. Tank will hold for now and hopefully will hold for the longer time frame. But I will have to live with doubt in my mind and 650 gallons of water that can ruin my first floor ... I am dealing with back problems and had two spinal injections, second one ust yesterday, and wife is recovering from major double knee replacement surgery and do not need additional distractions from what is important in our lives... Would be nice to have a nice finished tank but Oh Well !! Cet La Vie!!

That's to bad. He shouldnt have taken the job if he couldnt handle it. Sounds like he used up all your money and is now working for free or very little profit moving forward...not your problem. Good luck.

Thanks J.. He is a family man and I hope he recovers from whatever difficulty he is in.!! I just hope he can finish my job SOON!! I did not even bargain for a lower price as I believed in the man's ability to do a good job and he has been in the business for a long time and prides himself in knowing the business and in running a profitable business...

Thanks Corey... Need to get this phase behind me as I need to continue with my focus on my wife's recovery and enjoy my hobby. Not more aggregation at a steep financial and emotional cost.

Yes Steve and thanks for asking..He did show and fixed the room for the wife. Replaced the paneling and will be back Tu to do the ceiling and work on the tank. BIG Relief for the wife in rehab mode... Had asked him verbally and in writing that I wanted him to place a spare pipe in the wall (that he had taken out) before he replaced the paneling. That he did not do... Hopefully the present water supply pipe will not leak and there will not be a need for the spare pipe. A safeguard we wanted so as not to have to rip walls again.. Otherwise we are OK and moving forward. Wife rehab is progressing well and that is most important to us in our retirement. It has been tough to see your partner of 46 years in pain.. Hopefully all other remaining items will be completed/fixed to our liking... AND he did bring the replacement power supply for the DC pump that failed and the replacement light Razor that was returned...

We had installed closure panels on our tank lower section on the office side. These panels are removable for access to sump refuge & frag tank but they do give the tank an elegant look What do you think when compared to the open look in the picture above. I & wife like this look

Very smart looking. Of course, a few FTS would really help to give us the full impression (hint, hint). ;)

Definitely looks better with the doors on!

very nice tank. I believe i have that same pink/reddish algae you have. My is the consistency of cotton candy. it will grow very quickly and is hard to remove.
I think my atlantic tang in the display eats it so it's not a big problem there. It likes bright light and you can get rid of it by leaving it in total darkness for a week or more. a tang in your sump for a couple of weeks might work as well. It is still with me but is now manageable. i harvest some every month. You can post your picture in the macro algae forum and someone can identify it for you. It might be the one called red algae of death : ) dont freak out though, it has a boom and bust cycle like all algae and of course tangs like it. I also have pygmy angel fish and a coral beauty who do some good algae work.

Thanks dagger for the explanation Its consistency is like cotton candy and I will try to see if my tank will eat it. Meanwhile I will turn lights off after harvesting some more. greatly appreciate the input
