My baby is in the process of being built and should be done in the next few weeks. It is 96x48x26. I would have loved 10' rather than 8' but that jumped the price of the tank to almost double! Ouch. The only revisement to the sketch is the overflow box...it is 36x12x6 and not 24x12x6.

Nice dimensions...

I have a 48x48x24 240g cube in 3/4" acrylic, the bracing is also 3/4" and the open cell in the eurobracing is around 36x36

Sounds like fun actually! I built my stand, just need to finish building the doors, but I'm waiting until I get the 75g sump tank in there.

Well WTH! Get over here and let's quit wasting time. As a reminder there is NO Florida State gear allowed in my house. So if you wear any, that crap will have to be checked at the door. This is a U house. :inlove:

My stand is DIY, as I get my plans finalized I'll share them with you. And the sump is 6'x2'. Was thinking about throwing a rubbermaid stock tank under the tank, but decided with the glass tank that I already have. I'll use the stock tank as a qt. lol

Nice! I have a 96x48x24 being built right now, supposed to be done the first of the week. A couple diffences my overflow will be internal with same dimensions as yours. I will use the 6 inches on the side to hide Tunzes. Looking forward to see your progression

Couple quick questions...

I'm wondering what peoples thoughts are on the following: 2 VorTech MP60W ES's or 4 VorTech MP40W ES's.

And my skimmer is a MRC MR6R that is supposed to be fed with a Mag 12/18 and recirculated with a Barracuda or Hammerhead. I bought a Barracuda for the recirc and just did some reading that Reeflo pumps are not great to run on beckett skimmers. Uh oh. The thread I was reading had someone that knows a thing or two about skimmers suggesting an Iwaki or PanWorld pump to recirculate becketts...but MRC themselves suggest the Cuda/Hammerhead. What gives?

And as you can see from my diagram, the overflow box is external and will have 4 drains drilled into it. Is there ANY issue with having one of them dedicated to feeding the skimmer? I can place the inlet to the skimmer below the drains and use one to go right to the skimmer. Thoughts?

I think the 4xmp40's would allow better coverage for flow.

Oh, don't hate on the State, remember the beating we gave ya'all this year? lol.

What happened last year? Win 5 titles and then you can come sit at my table. ;) And PLEASE don't be mad at me just because I hate GlassCages. lol

there is a discussion on big skimmers right now, and a guy with a 4848 uses a reeflo pump on it. he claimed to tried a pressure pump, and the reeflo pump worked better.
on normal single Beckett, pressure pumps are better. but the MR6R is a multi-Beckett so i would do what the manufacturer recommends.

also, what is the thickness of your acrylic? if its above 3/4 then MP40's are out of the question.

apon feeding your skimmer, i would use one of those 4 bulkheads and run a gate valve and go straight to the skimmer. (no durso or anything... this way its always submerged and you can regulate the flow by using the gate valve.. plus gate valves are more precise which will help you dial it in)

tagging along,,,love large builds...

Curious to see how the two MP60's come out...

Yeah, I was EXCITED about the MP60's...but at the end of the day I changed my mind and went with 4 MP40's instead. I just felt that with 2 MP60's, I would limit myself with coral placement anywhere near the pumps. lol

Some goodies starting to trickle in:
