My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Great build. I am glad to see someone local using the sola tubes to light a reef tank and grow corals. I have thought about using them for my next tank which will be in wall. Nothing can be better of corals than real sun light and we get plenty here in Az. I would love to check out your set up once it is running.

I just read this whole thread and i must say your neighbor is a jerk:rolleye1:! You should clone your wife and sell copies of her because I still can't believe she let you do this project. My favorite journal on RC!:D

wow, i am totally in shock with this post, if i had more hands i'd give you more than 2 thumbs up! i can see you are incredibly dedicated to your project, and you are making a lot of people jealous, I wish my wife was as understanding...as for your neighbor, well I guess we all have a "special neighbor" in our neighbohood...lol

can't wait to see more pics, this project is awesome, keep up the thread, it is probably one of the most popular on reef central.

It looks awesome! The kids will say, "When the curtains are closed, mommy and daddy are int there wrestlin'." haha

Very nice build. I really like the stone work but I am not sure if I would get much sleep with a tank like that in the bedroom. It would be nice to find some way of covering the bedroom side with a tint or film that acts like a one way mirror.

Hey Ryan,
Tank is looking great! Have you thought about doing a molding/framing around the tank on the bedroom side? I think it would be a nice addition and kind of complete the wall a little bit.

Ok, Got the curtain track up and the curtain made by a local reefer, Thanks KK! Here are a few pictures with it run out. I think I will need to have about 6-12" cut off the end to make it fit perfectly but I wanted to be on the safe side the first time around. I plan on putting a 32" LCD between the curtain and the AC vent this week.

Out in the shed I got the sink all hooked, RO unit hung and my saltwater container in the shed. The container is 265G. Hopefully this week I will get a 55G for RO and (3) 15 gallon containers for ALK, CA and MAG. I have been meeting with carpenters this past week and hope to have all the wood doors, trim and bar top done on the living room side quickly after the new year. My electrical panels (for the shed) have been ordered and I hope to get my electricain out here soon after the new year as well. He is doing this as a favor so timing on this may get pushed back.

Looking amazing. Your setup is my dream setup with all the noise and humidity out in the shed like that. One tip for your sink; you might consider making acrylic splash shields for the pumps. I tried storing stuff under and around my fishroom sink and always managed to get it wet when water spilled or splashed out of the sink. :)
