all i see is red 'x' but I'm sure they are sweet! Did you get it from Atlantis or local?

Sweet Perry.. Are those Tunze in the back there? I'm on the fence between a couple of 6105 or MP40w ES... how do you like them? have you ran Vortechs in the past? if so how do they compare to the vortechs? thanks..

I got that frag from you before you got out... Not sure if the ruby or just red hyacinthus, but that one was from you man!!! I am sure it will find it's way back in your tank

I have never used the vortechs, just tunze...
I have 2 tunzes on the controller, 6055 I believe...
I also have a modded tunze 6025 and a 6045 all lined up on the back, pushing forward.

I like the way the flow works with this setup, it creates a massive undertow, pushing up towards the overflow, this makes me very happy with little opportunity for settling detritus...

I purchased this coral locally, I believe they acquired as a maricultured. I cut the coral in half and have always had 2 separate mini colonies. The coral has not grown much, it has been one of my slowest growers, on both colonies. I can tell you that in my tank, I had one in high light, and the other in low to medium light. The high light coral turns turquois with hues of pink, the other in low-medium light gets very blue. Anyway, I like the coral, just has never been a spotlight coral due to the slow growth.

Wow,
I have not updated in awhile Took zeo down for a few weeks thinking the system was just not for me, cyano was really bringing me down, I did a redslime remover and began running PO4 media, only to lose a few corals...ughh.. Today zeovit went back online, I chalk my losses to my own errors, not zeovit, and sure do miss those awesome colors. I will post up some pics soon

small frag of real deal echinata, which you did not get... Losing miyagi tort, not completely yet. Lost that sweet pink/purple pocci, birdsnest... chopped up and have small frags of roscoes blue, green/pink milli, and think that is about it for now...lol... Anyway, I am hopeful to make it through... I still think that after my rock structure was soaked in bleach for 2 days, then dried and rinsed in RO/DI, then 3 muriatic acid dips, then soaked in RO/DI for 3 days, then dried and cycled in saltwater for 4 weeks....did not get all the phosphate out, I still cannot believe it... Perhaps a mini-cycle after the move, not too sure, but hair algae, bubble algae and cyano on the rise, that is why I dumped zeo and started running PO4 remover, I think this really upset my corals which is why I am where I am, KNEE JERK REACTION, should have known better and just stayed the course, owell...we live and learn All my beauties are still great including monster piece of seasons greetings, setosa, colony of Pearlberry, Huge colony of Humilus, mini-colony of Hawkins, just to mention a few that seem totally unnaffected. I still believe that STN spreads to neighboring corals as a large colony of green/pink milli which was completely happy started to dump flesh from base up, incentally, the roscoes which started all this crap was only 4 inches away....UGHH>>>
I appreciate your concern, I will recover and get things back to the way they were before the move....

I think moving the system established is a bit more challenging, IMO... There are many things to consider...1. System prefers fresh liverock, have a plan to be able to do this directly or remotely. 2. System prefers dead sand that has been rinsed in RO/DI for a few days and rinsed a few more times prior to adding it in, livesand caused me all sorts of alage problems, siphon out your current bed weeks before converting and replace with a quality dead sand, I use Mini-Flakes by Tropic Eden, Reef-Flakes is a bit coarser, also very good. 3. ALK, CA, MAG, and K must be within NSW range, I would recommend a solid dosing plan or full proof CA reactor to be sure, also testing K at least weekly, as the zeolites will likely pull K from the water.

An established system is just that, established... Converting should be done extemely slow, and ramping up as you see your corals and inverts adjusting. I would go with a lower than recommended flow through the reactor of zeolites, and MUCH less zeostart2 than recommended. I was using .2ml 2x per day, I am now only using 2 drops 2x per day which is 60% less. To overcome nutrient buildup, I have added a 2nd skimmer to help pull nutrients quicker. I have also become religious with water changes, every week 5 gallons. I also run PO4 remover in my W/C water to insure absolutely no phosphate of any sort is in my change water(I believe Sunny does this). I think once you make it past the 6-8 zeolite exchange mark, is where you start to become stable, until there, much observance and patience must be applied to ensure crashes. HTH's...

I moved the pillar out of the tank that resides to the right side, more open look. Since last post, I have added a fuge with liverock, feather calupera, and a few snails. I also began running NP Biopellets as my ULNS along side of GFO in a reactor. The GFO flow is light, the fuge is turning over 220gph with headloss factored. I have continued light use of the zeovit products, so I guess this is a hybrid zeo system now. I ocasssionaly add a couple of drops of start2 and contining to use bak until depleted. I have some unsightly algae deposits and am in the middle of a lights out period of 3 days to choke it out. I will update next week with results. Updated photo with actinics only no halide...

Hey Chris,
No problem, when the coral starts to plate, I will snap a piece off for you, still mostly encrusting, a few new shoots so I am hopeful the tabling effect coming soon.

I moved a couple of corals around for more eye pleasing scape, I like the look, just did this today and here are a couple of pics of my current setup...

This design is for less corals with more room to grow into larger colonies while still allowing fish room to swim... My last design had many smaller colonies placed closer together which was colorful, but not good for future grow out. Hopefully things will continue as planned and I might have some better pics in the near future...

Love the scape but the efflo should go near the bottom dont you think....once it gets big it will cast a huge shadow up there.
