My 748 Gal A.G.E. Aquaillumination SOL lit Texas Dream Tank Build!

Thanks, I like tangs, they are pretty hardy & for the most part reef safe.

Actually they are not hardy at all! Ich is their best friend and they stress really easy and do not like dirty water... I dont know where u got tangs being hardy...

Thank you! I have similar but I forgot you can leave an open gap like you have between 11am-4pm and the intensity would remain.

Thanks again and keep us posted on the tank. It is definitely a dream come true!!!

It was a bit of a challenge for me also trying to figure the ramping feature and the timing. I'm a pretty smart guy but i had to watch the youtube vids on the controller just to figure how to get my times right. Got it dialed in and works awesome!

I dont know where you get the idea that they're not hardy.
I've currently got three in my 250 gallon system; a Tomini, a Purple, and a Powder Blue.

The Powder Blue is the new one to my system and I've only had it for about 6 months. The Tomini and Purple I've had for a little over 4 years without issue.

IME, Tangs are more susceptible to ich infections, but other than that, you're incorrect. Just like any other fish, if you provide them with the appropriate conditions, they're pretty easy to take care of.

And just like every other fish, if you stress them out, fail to meet their living requirements, and dont care for them, they'll die on you.

I have been out of town on business, nice cyno outbreak & calcium drop. I got it under control & everybody is healthy. I will update this weekend when I have some time. I'm still catching up at work.

Subfloor is concrete slab for 2 story house with tension cables inside. Yes I am still freaking out a little on the weight.

I have a 3 car garage with 4 cars in it. I have a lift with my vet on top & viper under. A 69 camaro pace car in fron & wifes slk in her slot. 4 X 3500 lbs =14,000 plus 1 ton lift & all the other crap in it. So I figure 1 car over another is about 9000 lbs & I have had no problems.

I have a friend that is an engineer & designs natural gas pump stations & he felt I had no problems.

Tangs seem to get ick even when nothing new is introduced. My big tangs are 12 yrs old & get ick about 1-2 times a year. Garlic in their food for a couple weeks & it is gone.

Thanks for looking at thread

BTW

I have hundreds of baby snails.

I saw the eggs & figured they wouldn't hatch but they started showing up about 10 days after the eggs disappeared.

Just by looking at your tank now I wish I was a fish in that tank. A very well planned tank build and quality equipment too!!

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful tank with us all. :)

I was just browsing around the RC forums looking for nothing in particular and I stumbled onto this thread...then read all 14 pages in one sitting. This thread is a spectacular clinic on what many years of study, planning, and progression in the hobby can turn out. I'm 28 and probably decades away from being able to do something like this top-notch setup (if ever), but it's ultra-inspiring all the same.
Thanks for taking the time to keep everyone on RC constantly updated on the tank's progress, especially since you're already spending so much time with planning, executing, tweaking, re-planning, etc. on your new megatank!
Now I'm going to subscribe to the thread so that I can keep up post-by-post so that I don't have to read 300+ posts in one setting to get current, hahaha.

Being that you have access to the rear of the tank and it's 48" width, do you have any mp40 or mp60's on rear wall facing front? Curious as to how the flow would affect the swaying of corals if the Mp was not behind a reef structure.

2 MP 60s on each side & 2 40s in the rear. I get pretty good current but not enough sway. I need to make some adjustments but have not had time.

I have a job & own a daycare that my daughter/retired wife runs with around 75 kids. I maintain my house, mothers house, daughters house, & a 4,000 ft daycare with 6 bathrooms.

I have been running in all directions the past 1-2 months & tank has been left alone.

It has been a while since I posted. Tank is doing well. Finally got calcium reactor dialed in.

Here is a couple pics.

how is the heat issue doing? are you still running high temperatures, or is the chiller and exhaust fan keeping up? or have you done other things??

also, i see you have some dirty sand. is that due to lack of flow, or just a dark spot in the picture?

I have a little cyno starting & going to dose it this week then do a 25% water change.
Hooked up new R/O filter from Buckeye this morning & washed out about 50 filter bags on the patio.

Never enough time to complete everything you want to get done.

The dirty sand (black things) is a million little snails. They are breeding like crazy. If I do not wipe the glass down with a magnet for 2 days, the glass is covered in baby snails. The black things on the sand bed are 3 different hatchings.

I have not messed with the heat much lately & have not checked it with laser temp probe. I installed a second monster exaust fan & there a bunch of air being tanken out.

Look at almost any picture & you can see them on the rocks & sandbed.

Added: 6 chromis, Blue throat trigger, clam,
