My Bigger Piece of the Reef (LotsOPics)

I got home and after 3 days of lights out... the tank looked great. It actually looked like the algae was slowing down b4 I left. I brushed off the rocks today and did a 30 gallon water change. It looks terrific.

Before the 3 day dark period...

I got some fish. My water tested good and I couldn't wait any longer. 10 blue green chromis' and lawn mower blenny. I also got 20 astrea snails, 5 nassarius snails and 13 small hermit crabs.

Is the blenny eating food you are feeding?

The blenny is only cleaning the rocks. Any suggestions?

Hi
the aquascape looks great
i am not really that experience but in my opinion the lawn mover need to eat lot more algae than its present in your tank. i would hang a piece of nori for right now till the tank is little mature .

I put a piece on a rock and he looked at it like it like a Nascar fan looks at sushi. I put some rock from my other fuge in there and they have lots of algae on them. He'll sit on them but, won't touch the algae. I even tried dropping little pieces of formula II frozen algae in front of him and he turned the other cheek.

My post from yesterday apparently vaporized...

I would take the blenny back to the store. I doubt it will survive much more than a week in your system. Sorry to say that, but they need a lot of algae and I have yet to hear of one eating nori.

I got scared so I checked him when I got home. He is so fat, it's not even funny. I get alot of green micro algae when the lights are on and that's what he's eating. His belly is huge. I'm gonna just keep an eye on him.

Can't see the micro algae in the pics but that will be OK for a while until your cycle is done. Mine had a huge belly too, but ultimately ran out of food got skinny in less than a week, and died. :(

Why would he not eat the hair algae that I put in there? Is the micro just better. Not that you would know that... or maybe you do. As time goes on... how can I supplement his diet? Can I buy some algae? Some have said that their LMB eat frozen.

It all depends on the individual fish, but I have heard mostly about scenarios that match my own. You have to figure that in a tank the size of mine, there would be enough food, but with all the snails and tangs, there was too much competition for what ever could grow.

Keep an eye on it and have an exit strategy. If you get it to eat frozen, I wil lhave to hand over my Fish Wisperer Badge! :D
