My Black Ocellaris pair are spawning!!!

Make sure your newly fed RotFeed concentrate water is within salinity of +- 0.007 range or the rotifer will go into hibernation. (ex: If your water is 1.020, 1.013 <--- 1.020----> 1.027)

Btw, you might have to feed a bit more to the pail as the rotifer culture looks a bit clear now. You should just so it is a bit lighter than your phyto culture color.

p.s. Don't put your rotifers right beside your phyto, if any of the rotifers got into your phyto, that will be the end of your phyto culture (good thing is you get one more rotifer culture) ;)

I'm going to try and raise this batch too just for kicks. Ok I mis understood. I thought when I filled the bottles / pail to split the culture I needed to have the salinity at 1.007 to 1.014 I made it to 1.010. How can I tell if they are in hybernation? I just tested the concentrate and its about 1.024. What should I do?

Test it in front of light to see if anything is flowing.

If your salinity of your pail is at 1.024, you are fine. (I hope you are using a refractometer to test that). Just make sure in future when you add new phyto SW in , the final salinity is never off by 0.007 up or down, then it's fine.

I can see some of them buzzing around I think. Many aren't doing much though. Will they recover? Should I try and raise the salinity? The salinity of the pail is 1.011. (yes using a refactometer) When I'm adding the concentrate it shouldn't matter too much adding only 2 teaspoons to a 2l bottle right? Its only when I'm adding regular phyto that I need to be more carefull because of the amount needed?

At 1.011 drop, there might not be alot of them alive, they will come back , just make sure you keep it around 1.018 or so (the salinity I find okay to use to feed & not hurt the wallet too much with salt water changes).

I raised the salinity to 1.015. I'll get it the rest of the way up tomorrow. I see some silver eyes. Some are still black. Anyone know how many more days that indicates?

Here's some pics from tonight. You can clearly see the silver eyes.

Plan? Well.. I guess I'm going to shine a light at the top and use a container to catch them. Without having the eggs on a tile which would of course be better I don't know of a better way. Thanks GSMguy and Yunachin :)

Good luck with the fry, I hope you can pull em' through...Heck, if you can get them to MATE often you could trade em in to the LFS for free coral/fish....That always works nicely!

Hmm. Trade for Corals.. Good idea Dustin. My wife would like that.. No hatch last night.. Hopefully tonight. (Night 8) Its snowing like crazy here. The plows don't look like they are going to plow so maybe I'll post some more pictures later.
