Wow that's hot. Honestly I think they are going to need some air conditioning.. Can you wall off a small area even with foam and run a small air conditioner?

Yeah to hot, I guess i could wall off an area but the tanks would all have to be moved in a central location first and then again it goes back to my electric bill has already taken a hit maybe i can get by with the frozen bottles of water in the tanks for now if not i am not sure what i will do.

oh and tonight i have to watch my sharks try and crawl back into a series.

I appreciate everyone's ideas for sure.

Yeah we do need some luck to come our way for sure hopefully no more posts tonight and we can get one back.
well i am headed home the winds seem to have shifted and the nice cool ocean breeze is starting to do it's thing around here, i plan to open up the garage and hope i don't find clownfish soup.

Yes the garage ceiling is unfinished and metal as well adding vent's to the roof is an option.

Insulation isn't just for keeping the heat in during the winter, it will keep the heat out as well ;)

^^^Very true but another curve ball is this winter i had a pretty bad condensation problem on the inside of the structure, i think from adding the tanks out there. I was thinking of insulating the walls & ceiling but was afraid that if i covered them up then i could cause a mold issue which is not going to be good at all.

So a quick update i got home yesterday and the tanks were way to hot again but no losses so that's a good thing although the bta in the gsm tank was not very happy at all, real deflated and the female seemed either irritiated by that or the temp of her tank.

It has just been a strange weather pattern here the last 2 days, typically it does not get that hot here even in the summer time. This morning the fog bank was back in and the temps have dropped just for comparison here is the forecast for the next 3 days to give you an idea: (we hit 95 yesterday)

Today High: 75
Clear in the morning then widespread low clouds. Highs in the mid 70s. Light winds...becoming southwest around 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight Low: 48
Widespread low clouds and fog. Lows in the upper 40s. Southwest winds around 5 mph in the evening...becoming light.

Thursday High: 65
Areas of low clouds and fog in the morning then partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 60s. Light winds...becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday Night Low: 45
Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.

Friday High: 60
Partly cloudy. Highs around 60. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph increasing to west 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Friday Night Low: 42
Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s.

Hopefully everything will survive this brief heat wave.

Yeah it was brief and moved along it's 1:45pm here and the clouds are blocking out the sun, a nice mild day. The tank temps in the garage are all back to normal with no losses even my last group of (6) 2 week old's made it through.

Do I dare say "earthquake weather" !

Now you know we don't talk like that around here:D

my wife and i had that conversation last night.

Well i have a nice size clutch to pull out tonight and see what happens, i was debating pulling the tile last night but decided against it glad i did as they were all still there this morning.

This weekend's hatch did not really go as planned, On friday i had planned to pull the tile later in the day as usual again (10th day). I had placed an order to restock my clean up crew in the dt, so i had the fun task of turning over snails that needed help getting started so my hands were in the tank while doing that i noticed that the female was doing allot of cleaning around the batch that was there, she was pretty swollen as well, i had the feeling she was going to lay again a bit early (another double clutch) i kept an eye on her while working on the tank, after a while i decided to grab a beer and let her have a few minutes without my hands in the tank & see what she was going to do. Well i came back to the tank, 5 or so minutes later & she had started to lay another clutch! she only had about 4 new eggs down so i grabbed my tupperware bowl & the tile, gave her a new clean tile and off to the garage i went. I setup the tile & bubbler and hoped for the best as i have not had the best of luck trying to aerate the eggs for any length of time.

For the tile batch i had probably less than 50% hatch rate as many turned white on the tile and died.

I left the dt tank alone for the next hour or so and she finished laying the batch that she had started on the new tile. So if i had not been around i would have had another double clutch.

I wonder why? (the double clutch??) issue; is her internal clock off or what?

What's the temp in the DT ? Maybe it's to cold. If you raise the temp, maybe the egg will hatch faster ?

You are probably dosing too much vodka in her tank. ;)
Melev may be onto something here

Whats the success rate you got with the fry eggs of the perculas actually being hatched and living?

How long does it take before a mated pair of clowns actually lay eggs? After the initial laying of their 1st batch of eggs, whats the duration before they lay another 2nd batch of eggs?

thanks

Off-Topic
