Vinnie... Marco rocks are just dried live rocks. They have a ton of dead stuff in and on them. I added vinegar to my solution to help speed up the process of getting the crap off of them.

thats what i figured but wasn't sure, well i have all my frame work done and i just need to go get my lace rock.i am doing one thing differant though, i dont want to be drilling holes in the rock so im using Epoxy Putty(the kind used for fragging) to attach the rock to the frame, no zip ties needed:D

I am new here to rc and havent figured out how to post my pics yet, but I have some pics of how I did mine. It blends in with the rock almost perfectly. Also when you open the foam up this way the resin penetrates the foam alot better. Its funny but the more you sand and punture holes with dremel the more it looks like marco rock. One other thing I did was use 3/4 acrylic rod drilled the rock and used this to build island like rock formations like on marco website. Another method I like is to take the rod glue to drilled rock then mount to small acrylic plate 4" or so then glue to wall, holds the rock great . then you faom around it, sand and glue. ends up looking like rock is coming right out of wall. As soon as I can I post some pics.

Vinnie... Can't wait to see it. Please feel free to post them in this thread aswell as you own.

Jerdog... Go to www.photobucket.com and start a free account. hit the upload button and go find the pics in your computer. Once uploaded... hit the edit button on to of the pic and resize it to message board size.

Then... to post the pic click the bottom of the four url choices in order to copy the right format... Once you've done that... then paste the copied url into reef central.

Just remember, Vinnie... If it's good, people are going to want to see it step by step.
oops well chances are by then it will be finished lol

Mine only gives me those 3 option after I have already resized. Go to main album and you will see some boxes below each photo. If you have 4 boxes... click to left of the bottom one where it says IMG Code. Once you've done that... go into a thread reply box and right click and choose paste.

I think these give you a better idea what i was saying, thanks for the help with pic uploading most appreciated. You can see I also have the rod holding up the rock a few inches above where the dsb was going to be, but I have been throwing around the idea of foaming the bottom and creating a faux sand bed with this method... whatcha think?

sorry just figured that out
I have been waiting to start build thread, anyway started it today if you want to take look its in the large reef tanks under jers vegas build. Thank you again for ur help

Jerdog... looks cool

Vinnie... No big! Tear it apart and start over once you have a camera.

No way i have like 9 hrs in that frame!!!!!!!!!

Looks great I have a 75 gal tank I plan on using for predetors and thinking about doing something like this.

???? If after fasting the rock could you lay it on its back over wax paper then use the foam and while the foam is still active cover it all with crushed coral would that allow you to skip the resin. Or do you have to apply the resin for another purpose
